UTI Mutual Fund Launches WhatsApp Investment Service for Seamless Transactions

· · 2 min read

UTI Mutual Fund now allows investors to complete the entire mutual fund investment process, including UPI payments, directly within a WhatsApp chat. This innovative service, developed with CAMSPay, Gupshup, and Meta, aims to reduce payment failures and drop-offs by keeping transactions in-app.

UTI Mutual Fund has introduced a groundbreaking service enabling investors to complete their entire mutual fund investment journey, including making UPI payments, directly within a WhatsApp chat. This eliminates the need for users to navigate to external browsers or other payment applications, streamlining the investment process significantly.

Streamlining Mutual Fund Investments on WhatsApp

The new feature allows investors to browse available funds, make investment decisions, and execute payments in a single, uninterrupted conversation on WhatsApp. This makes UTI Mutual Fund one of the first fund houses in India to offer native in-chat payments on the popular messaging platform.

The service was developed through a strategic partnership involving CAMSPay, Gupshup, and Meta's WhatsApp Business platform. A key benefit of this integration is the expected reduction in payment failures and transaction drop-offs, which often occur when users are redirected away from the primary application to complete payments.

"At UTI, we are committed to making investing simpler, faster, and more accessible for every investor. By becoming one of the first in the mutual fund industry to enable native in-chat payments on WhatsApp, we are meeting investors where they already are — on a channel they use every day. This is a significant step in our journey to make investing truly effortless for every Indian," stated Mr. Peshotan Dastoor, Group President & Head – Sales, Product & Digital, UTI AMC.

Partnership Aims to Enhance User Experience

CAMSPay's CEO, Mr. Vasanth Jeyapaul, highlighted how their WhatsApp Native Payment Solution addresses a measurable problem for BFSI institutions by solving payment drop-offs caused by fragmented user journeys. He noted that enabling in-chat one-time and recurring payments, combined with automated WhatsApp notifications, transforms WhatsApp from a mere communication tool into a relationship-based digital conversion platform.

Mr. Gaurav Kachhawa, Chief Product Officer at Gupshup, expressed enthusiasm for powering the end-to-end customer experience for UTI Mutual Fund on WhatsApp, including payments. He believes that conversational journeys represent the future of financial services engagement, and UTI's launch serves as a compelling example of what is achievable when institutions commit to engaging customers on their preferred channels.

This initiative marks a significant step towards making mutual fund investments more convenient and accessible for a broader demographic of Indian investors, leveraging the widespread use of WhatsApp across the country.
