Uttar Pradesh is hosting the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026, focusing on ₹3,191 crore worth of projects and a proposed 500-acre Japan City. These initiatives are expected to generate over 10,000 jobs through partnerships with companies like Escorts Kubota and Minda Corporation.

Uttar Pradesh is poised to significantly strengthen its industrial ties with Japan, with a major investment meet from August 18 to 23, 2026. The UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026 will highlight a pipeline of projects valued at ₹3,191 crore and the ambitious plan for a 500-acre Japan City. These initiatives are projected to create more than 10,000 employment opportunities within the state.

Groundbreaking Projects and Job Creation

A central focus of the investment meet will be the virtual groundbreaking ceremony for substantial projects proposed by two key companies: Escorts Kubota and Minda Corporation. Both companies plan to establish their operations within the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) area.

  • Escorts Kubota: This company has committed approximately ₹2,025 crore towards a project in YEIDA’s Sector 10, anticipating the creation of over 3,800 jobs.
  • Minda Corporation: Minda Corporation plans to invest ₹1,166 crore across two projects in YEIDA’s Sector 10 and Sector 24. These ventures are expected to generate around 6,440 new employment opportunities.

Collectively, these projects represent a substantial ₹3,191 crore investment, set to significantly bolster the Japanese manufacturing ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh and provide over 10,000 direct jobs.

Vision for a 500-Acre Japan City

Another pivotal element of the investment discussions is the proposed 500-acre Japan City within the YEIDA region. This integrated industrial ecosystem is envisioned to serve as a hub for Japanese companies, their suppliers, and ancillary industries. The Uttar Pradesh government will present detailed plans for Japan City, outlining the investment avenues available to Japanese businesses looking to establish or expand their presence in the state. This development aims to foster supply-chain integration, facilitate technology transfer, and drive further employment generation.

High-Level Discussions and Future Sectors

The investment meet includes a high-level CEO roundtable in New Delhi, bringing together Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, senior government officials, and top executives from Japanese companies. More than 200 Japanese industrialists, CEOs, business leaders, and policymakers are expected to participate, discussing a wide array of investment opportunities and industrial collaborations.

Discussions will span high-growth sectors, including green hydrogen, renewable energy, electric mobility, semiconductors, advanced materials, automotive components, and digital infrastructure. Other sessions will delve into innovation, industry, investment, and green transformation in mobility, energy, and strategic materials, alongside dialogues on startups, technology, banking, and skilled human resources.

The Japanese delegation is led by Yamanashi Governor Kotaro Nagasaki. Uttar Pradesh aims to not only secure investment commitments but also ensure their efficient implementation, foster technology partnerships, and achieve its target of a $1 trillion economy through enhanced Japanese industrial participation.
