"Toxic" Crosses ₹334 Cr Globally, But "Hanuman Ansh" Dominates Long Game at Box Office

· · 2 min read

Yash-starrer "Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups" grossed ₹334.50 crore worldwide by Day 11, yet faced significant domestic declines after a massive opening. In contrast, "Hanuman Ansh" emerged as a sleeper hit, showing strong, sustained growth into its fourth week, defying typical box office patterns.

Yash's highly anticipated gangster drama, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, has surpassed the ₹334 crore mark globally by its eleventh day. Despite a record-breaking opening, the film is now experiencing sharp drops in its second week at the domestic box office, according to trade tracker Sacnilk.

Toxic's Initial Surge and Subsequent Decline

On Day 11, Toxic collected a net of ₹2.35 crore in India from 1,927 shows, marking a 34.3% growth from its Day 10 collection of ₹1.75 crore. This brings its total India net collection to ₹243.40 crore and India gross to ₹290.50 crore. The film added ₹0.75 crore from overseas markets on Day 11, pushing its international gross to ₹44 crore and its worldwide gross total to ₹334.50 crore.

While Toxic opened impressively with a net of ₹101.10 crore on Day 1, it faced a steep decline of approximately 95% from its opening day by the end of its first week. Daily net collections in the second week continued to fall, with figures like ₹5.45 crore (Day 8), ₹4.25 crore (Day 9), and ₹1.75 crore (Day 10), indicating a rapid tapering of theatrical demand.

Hanuman Ansh: The Devotional Sleeper Hit

In stark contrast, the low-budget devotional drama Hanuman Ansh has surprised the industry by becoming an unusual long-tail success. Sacnilk data reveals that the film collected a substantial ₹16.50 crore net in India on Day 30 alone. This remarkable performance pushed its total India net collection to ₹99.38 crore and India gross to ₹117.40 crore, with no reported overseas component.

By its fourth week, Hanuman Ansh had posted one of the biggest fourth-week runs in Hindi cinema, accumulating around ₹61 crore net in that week alone. The film has continued to add significant business well into its fourth and fifth weeks, defying typical decay patterns and demonstrating sustained audience interest.

Contrasting Box Office Trends

The performance of Toxic and Hanuman Ansh highlights two distinct strategies and outcomes in the Indian box office. Toxic relied on a massive pan-India release and a huge Day 1 collection, front-loading its earnings. While it leads in absolute numbers with a ₹243.40 crore net in India compared to Hanuman Ansh's ₹99.38 crore net, Toxic is clearly in a decline phase.

Conversely, Hanuman Ansh built momentum slowly, with its collections surging from the third week onwards. Its stronger hold and consistent growth in later weeks indicate a significantly more resilient long-term performance, positioning it as a major devotional sleeper hit.
