Tesla Model Y Ownership in India: ₹6 Lakh Down, ₹39,990 Monthly Plan Unveiled

Tesla has launched an "Ease of Ownership" program for the Model Y in India, requiring a ₹6 lakh down payment and monthly installments starting at ₹39,990. This initiative aims to make electric mobility more accessible and financially attractive for Indian consumers.

Tesla has introduced a new "Ease of Ownership" program in India, making the Model Y electric SUV more accessible to consumers. This innovative scheme allows prospective buyers to acquire a Tesla Model Y with an initial down payment of just ₹6 lakh, followed by monthly payments starting around ₹39,990.

The program is a key component of Tesla's broader strategy to expand its presence in the Indian market, coinciding with the recent inauguration of its new Experience Centre in Hyderabad. Sharad Agarwal, Head of Tesla India, emphasized the company's dedication to making electric vehicle ownership financially appealing.

Making EV Ownership Financially Attractive

Agarwal highlighted the significant savings potential for customers opting for the Model Y. He noted that a typical conventional petrol car owner spends between ₹15,000 and ₹20,000 monthly on fuel and maintenance. By switching to an electric vehicle like the Model Y, these substantial running costs are eliminated, effectively lowering the overall burden of the monthly payment.

"Imagine that you’re driving the best-selling car in the world and the safest car in the world by paying roughly about ₹20,000 because ₹20,000 is your saving from petrol and maintenance. So that’s a very exciting value proposition that we are bringing to our customers," Agarwal stated.

Tesla is positioning the Model Y not only as a premium vehicle but also as a financially astute choice, with its reduced running costs offsetting a significant portion of the monthly installments.

Advanced Service Model Supports Nationwide Access

Beyond the attractive financing, Tesla is also leveraging its technology-driven service ecosystem to reassure and attract buyers across India. The company asserts that its vehicles require minimal maintenance, deviating from the traditional six-month or 10,000-kilometer service schedules prevalent in the automotive industry.

Remote Diagnostics and Mobile Support

Tesla's service strategy heavily relies on remote diagnostics and software-based solutions. "In case you need anything in your car, we can fix the majority of the problems remotely. You don’t have to visit our service centre," Agarwal explained. For issues that cannot be resolved remotely, Tesla offers 24x7 mobile service support, backed by dedicated customer care teams.

This innovative service model is designed to enable customers from any part of India to confidently purchase Tesla vehicles, eliminating the need to wait for a physical service station or experience centre to be established nearby. This approach underscores Tesla's commitment to delivering a seamless ownership experience, regardless of geographical location within the country.
