Tesla has officially opened its first Destination Charging Station in North India, located at Nexus Select CITYWALK mall in New Delhi. This new facility significantly expands the electric vehicle manufacturer's charging infrastructure in the country, providing more convenience for Tesla owners.
New Delhi Facility Details
The newly launched charging station in Delhi is equipped with six 11 kW AC Destination Chargers, strategically placed in the P1 parking area of the mall. This setup allows Tesla vehicle owners to conveniently charge their cars while they are engaged in shopping, dining, or other activities at the mall.
With the addition of this Delhi facility, Tesla now operates a total of six charging locations across India. The company's expanding network includes 20 Superchargers and 20 Destination Chargers spread across key cities such as Delhi, Gurugram, Mumbai, and Navi Mumbai. This phased expansion is crucial as Tesla prepares for broader vehicle deliveries in the Indian market.
Temporary Pop-Up Store and New Models
In conjunction with the charging station launch, Tesla has also established a temporary pop-up store at Nexus Select CITYWALK. Open from July 6 to July 10, the store offers visitors an exclusive opportunity to experience the recently introduced Model Y L and the 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive.
Prospective buyers and enthusiasts can engage in guided walkarounds, participate in test drives, and receive product demonstrations for both models. The Model Y L, an all-wheel-drive SUV with six seats and three rows, boasts a WLTP range of up to 681 km and can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 5 seconds. It is priced from ₹61.99 lakh.
The 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive, a five-seater variant, offers a WLTP-certified range of up to 500 km and is available from ₹50.89 lakh. Both models have received top safety ratings from prominent global agencies, including NHTSA, IIHS, Euro NCAP, ANCAP, and C-IASI.
Broader India Strategy
Beyond its public charging network, Tesla has confirmed that home charging support is now available across all states in India, allowing customers to install dedicated charging infrastructure at their residences. Both the Model Y L and Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive are currently available for booking through Tesla’s official website.
Tesla continues to bolster its retail and after-sales presence in the Indian market, operating Tesla Experience Centers in major cities such as Delhi (Aerocity), Gurugram, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Mumbai. This holistic approach aims to provide comprehensive support for its growing customer base in India.
