TCS Suspends Nida Khan in Nashik Case, Citing Inability to Perform Duties

· · 2 min read

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has suspended Process Associate Nida Khan, citing her 'inability to discharge official duties' amid a workplace harassment and religious conversion case in Nashik. The company’s letter, dated April 9, temporarily revoked her network access and demanded the surrender of company assets.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has suspended Nida Khan, a Process Associate, who is reportedly embroiled in a workplace harassment and religious conversion case at the company’s Nashik campus. The suspension letter, issued on April 9, cited a “serious matter” reported against her, leading to her judicial custody and subsequent inability to perform her official duties.

TCS Cites "Unable to Discharge Official Duties"

The suspension letter explicitly stated, “Considering the seriousness of the matter as reported and that you are presently unable to discharge your official duties, the Company has decided to place you under suspension with immediate effect until further communication and decision in the matter by the Management.” As a result, Khan's access to the TCS network was temporarily revoked. She was directed to surrender all company assets in her possession and barred from reporting to any company office or working remotely until further notice.

Furthermore, the letter instructed Khan to maintain strict confidentiality regarding the matter, warning against discussing it with any other employee. Failure to cooperate, it stated, would result in disciplinary action.

Allegations Against Nida Khan

Nashik Police have identified Nida Khan as an alleged “absconding mastermind” in the religious conversion attempts case. Khan, a commerce graduate pursuing an MBA, had reportedly moved to Mumbai in January. Her lawyer is currently working on an anticipatory bail application. Khan's family has vehemently denied the allegations, asserting that she is not absconding and is in Mumbai expecting her first child. They have claimed foul play and digital harassment based on unverified information.

Contrary to some media reports, TCS clarified that Nida Khan is a Process Associate and has never held a leadership or HR management role within the company. A Nashik police Crime Branch team is actively searching for Khan in Mumbra, Thane district, and has questioned her husband regarding her whereabouts. Police sources suggest Khan may have shifted her base to evade arrest.

Company Response and Ongoing Probe

The case is part of a broader investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing nine cases related to alleged exploitation, attempted forceful conversion, and harassment of female employees at the TCS unit. TCS has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and confirmed the suspension of employees allegedly involved in the incidents.

Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran has expressed grave concern over the situation and announced an internal investigation to establish the facts and identify those responsible for the alleged misconduct.
