TCS Orders External Probe into Nashik Row; No POSH Complaints Found Internally

· · 2 min read

Tata Consultancy Services has initiated an independent external investigation into an incident at its Nashik facility, appointing Deloitte and Trilegal. The company clarifies an individual's role and denies its unit's closure, stating no formal POSH complaints have been found internally yet.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announced on April 17 that it has launched a formal, independent investigation into an incident at its Nashik facility. This move involves engaging external experts and establishing a board-level oversight committee to ensure transparency and credibility.

Independent Investigation Details

TCS CEO and MD K Krithivasan confirmed that teams from Deloitte and law firm Trilegal have been appointed as independent counsel. They will support an internal probe led by Executive Director, President, and Chief Operating Officer Aarthi Subramanian. The findings will be presented to an oversight committee, chaired by independent director Keki Mistry, for review and implementation of recommendations.

Clarifying Misinformation and Unit Status

Addressing what it termed inaccuracies in media reports, TCS clarified that Nida Khan, widely cited in media, was a process associate and did not hold any leadership or recruitment responsibilities within the company. Furthermore, TCS refuted claims that its Nashik unit had been shut down, asserting that the facility remains operational and continues to serve clients.

Initial Review Finds No POSH Complaints

Regarding allegations of misconduct, a preliminary review of internal systems and records related to the Nashik facility has not revealed any complaints filed through the company's ethics or Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) channels. TCS reiterated its "zero tolerance" policy towards coercion or misconduct and affirmed its commitment to employee safety and workplace dignity. The company also stated its full cooperation with law enforcement agencies to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation.
