Police in Pimpri-Chinchwad have registered a case of alleged abetment to suicide against three individuals, including two employees of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), following the death of a 48-year-old staffer of the IT firm. The case was filed after a complaint by the deceased employee's son.
Allegations of Harassment and Defamation
The deceased, Amit Brahme, who worked at TCS's Hinjawadi office, reportedly died by suicide at his residence in Bhosari on June 2, 2026. A purported suicide note left by Brahme named a friend, Vinod Palicha, alleging he sent defamatory emails about Brahme to the company.
The note also accused two female colleagues, identified as Archana and Shashwati, of repeatedly humiliating him in front of other co-workers. Brahme further claimed they deprived him of favorable work assignments, assigned him projects outside his expertise, reprimanded his performance, and pressured him to quit his job, threatening adverse feedback.
Police Investigation Underway
An official stated that the case has been registered at Bhosari police station under section 108 (abetment of suicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. As of now, no arrests have been made, and further investigation is ongoing, according to a PTI report.
TCS Responds to Allegations
In a statement, TCS acknowledged the allegations against its employees. The company emphasized its commitment to employee well-being, stating, "The wellbeing of our employees is of utmost importance to us and we are extending all support to the bereaved family." TCS also confirmed it is "ascertaining the facts" regarding the accusations and reiterated its dedication to "fostering a workplace that is respectful, supportive, and inclusive for all our employees."
IT Workers' Association Calls for Inquiry
Meanwhile, the Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES), an association representing IT workers, has reportedly written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, requesting an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Brahme's death.
