Mumbai, India – Tata Power Company Ltd. has announced a significant surge in its consolidated net profit for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027. The company's profit attributable to owners rose by 10.95% year-on-year (YoY) to ₹1,175.93 crore, up from ₹1,059.86 crore in the corresponding period last year.
Revenue from operations also saw robust growth, increasing by 5.64% YoY to ₹19,051.26 crore, compared to ₹18,035.07 crore a year earlier. Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortisation (EBITDA) climbed 8% YoY, reaching ₹4,249 crore.
Record Capital Expenditure Fuels Growth
Reflecting its commitment to strategic expansion, Tata Power deployed its highest-ever quarterly capital expenditure (capex) of ₹5,375 crore during the April-June period. This substantial investment underscores the company's focus on accelerating its growth projects, particularly within the renewable energy sector.
Strong Performance Across Key Business Segments
- Renewables Business: This segment reported a significant profit after tax (PAT) of ₹612 crore, marking a 15% increase YoY.
- Solar Cell and Module Manufacturing: This division showcased exceptional growth, with PAT soaring 3.9 times from the previous year to ₹371 crore.
- Rooftop Solar Business: Achieving a PAT of ₹145 crore, this segment grew 1.7 times YoY, attributed to its pan-India execution strategy and increasing consumer adoption.
- Transmission and Distribution (T&D): The T&D business also demonstrated solid performance, with PAT reaching ₹492 crore and EBITDA at ₹1,541 crore, representing YoY growth of 11% and 14% respectively.

With more than ₹5,000 crore deployed towards capex during Q1, we have begun FY27 with a strong project implementation roadmap. The return of Mundra to full operations, industry-leading solar rooftop growth, and deepening cross-border energy partnerships further reinforce our position as a leading integrated power company."
The company announced its June quarter results after market hours on Monday. Earlier in the day, Tata Power shares closed 0.72% higher at ₹377.25 on the BSE.
