· · 2 min read

Shares of Tata Investment Corporation Ltd. experienced their steepest decline in seven months, falling over 7% today. The profit booking follows recent speculation regarding a potential Tata Sons IPO, which had driven the stock up.

Shares of Tata Investment Corporation Ltd. (TATAINVEST) experienced their most significant drop in seven months today, tumbling over 7% on the BSE. The steep decline saw the stock fall to Rs 665.75, reducing the firm's market capitalization to Rs 34,635 crore.

The profit booking comes just a day after the stock had surged over 10% to close at Rs 718.30. This previous rally was fueled by widespread market speculation regarding a potential Initial Public Offering (IPO) and subsequent listing of Tata Group's prominent holding company, Tata Sons.

Analyst Perspectives on Tata Investment Stock

Despite today's downturn, Tata Investment Corporation has been a "multibagger" stock, showcasing impressive long-term growth. It has climbed 11% in the past five days, soared 178% over three years, and an astounding 434% in five years. However, technical indicators suggest the stock is currently overbought, with a Relative Strength Index (RSI) of 73, indicating a higher number of buyers than sellers recently.

Market analysts offered mixed views on the stock's immediate future. Jigar S Patel from Anand Rathi identified support at Rs 625 and resistance at Rs 680, suggesting the stock might trade within the Rs 625-700 range in the short term. A decisive breakthrough above Rs 680 could pave the way for a move towards Rs 700.

Virat Jagad, Senior Technical Research Analyst at Bonanza, advised caution against aggressive new entries due to the stock consolidating around key resistance levels. Jagad recommended waiting for a clear breakout above Rs 670–Rs 680 (above the 200-day Exponential Moving Average) before considering long positions, or to buy on a pullback near strong support at Rs 600–Rs 620. He set initial targets at Rs 740–Rs 760, with a stop loss below Rs 580, noting that while recent trading showed buying interest, the stock remains capped beneath several key moving averages.
