In a significant boost to India's ambition for semiconductor self-reliance, Tata Electronics and L&T Semiconductor Technologies Limited (LTSCT) have announced a strategic partnership. This collaboration aims to expand the indigenous manufacturing of market-leading semiconductor products within India, catering to both domestic and global customers.
Forging a Domestic Semiconductor Ecosystem
The alliance will leverage LTSCT’s established semiconductor design and engineering capabilities alongside Tata Electronics' extensive manufacturing, packaging, and foundry expertise. The primary focus is on building robust domestic design and manufacturing capabilities for a new generation of products across critical sectors, including automotive, industrial, communications, security, and intelligent-edge applications.
Under the terms of the partnership, both companies will explore opportunities for chip fabrication and advanced packaging. This will involve utilizing Tata Electronics’ diverse range of fab process technologies and packaging solutions for LTSCT’s current and future product lines. A key objective is also to optimize chip designs to ensure efficient manufacturing at scale.

Sandeep Kumar, Chief Executive of L&T Semiconductor Technologies Limited, emphasized the evolving nature of semiconductor leadership: “Semiconductor leadership will increasingly be defined not just by design breakthroughs but by the ability to industrialise those designs through advanced packaging and manufacturing.” He added that the partnership offers India a crucial opportunity to ascend the semiconductor value chain, enabling domestically designed products to reach global markets with enhanced speed, reliability, and scale.
