Suzlon Shares Jump 6% on Brokerage 'Buy' Rating, ₹550 Cr AI Blade Factory Investment

· · 3 min read

Suzlon Energy shares surged over 6% today, marking their biggest rise in five months. The rally follows a 'Buy' rating from Motilal Oswal and news of a ₹550 crore investment in three new AI-powered blade factories to boost production.

Suzlon Shares Rally on Investment News and Brokerage Confidence

Suzlon Energy shares experienced a significant rally today, climbing 6.38% to ₹39.98 per share on the BSE. This surge, the largest in five months, pushed the company's market capitalization to ₹54,847 crore, despite the broader market seeing a decline.

The positive movement in Suzlon's stock can be attributed to two primary factors. Firstly, brokerage firm Motilal Oswal maintained its 'Buy' rating for Suzlon Energy, setting a price target of ₹65. Secondly, the company's co-founder, Girish Tanti, announced a substantial investment of approximately ₹550 crore towards establishing three new AI-powered blade factories.

₹550 Crore Investment in AI-Powered Blade Factories

Girish Tanti confirmed that the Suzlon Group is committing ₹550 crore to develop three advanced blade manufacturing facilities. Two of these factories are planned for Gujarat and Karnataka, with the third slated for Tamil Nadu. This strategic investment is aimed at accelerating the execution of Suzlon's robust order book and meeting the increasing demand within India's domestic wind energy sector. The funding for these projects will be sourced from internal accruals, with ₹200 crore specifically allocated for the Tamil Nadu facility and the remainder for the Gujarat and Karnataka units.

Currently, Suzlon operates five blade factories across Jaisalmer, Bhuj, Ratlam, Dhule, and Anantapur. The addition of these three new AI-powered units will expand Suzlon's manufacturing footprint to a total of 18 factories, solidifying its position as India's largest smart wind manufacturing capacity provider.

Brokerage Highlights Strong Prospects

Motilal Oswal's continued 'Buy' rating underscores a positive outlook for Suzlon Energy. The brokerage's target price of ₹65 values the stock at 30 times its estimated FY28 earnings per share (EPS). This valuation, slightly above Suzlon's historical two-year forward P/E average of 27 times, is justified by enhanced earnings visibility, a robust order pipeline, and favorable growth prospects for wind power capacity additions in India.

Earnings are projected to gain momentum in the second half of FY27, which typically accounts for 60-65% of the company's annual EBITDA due to the seasonal nature of its business. Deliveries are forecast to rise significantly to 2.1 GW in the second half, compared to an estimated 1.2 GW in the first half of the fiscal year.

Company Profile and Market Context

Suzlon Energy is a prominent provider of renewable energy solutions, specializing in the production of wind turbines. The company also offers a comprehensive range of solar energy solutions, encompassing services from solar irradiance assessment and land acquisition to installation, commissioning, and life cycle asset management. Despite today's strong performance, the stock had been trading near its 52-week low of ₹36.30 reached on October 8 and remained in the oversold zone with a Relative Strength Index (RSI) of 26.1.
