· · 2 min read

Suzlon Energy's shares declined following news of a significant 250 MW wind energy order from Torrent Green Energy. This new contract contributes to Suzlon's 1.1 GW order book for FY27, yet stock prices saw a dip in early trade.

Suzlon Energy Ltd. saw its shares trade in the red on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, despite announcing a substantial new order win. The renewable energy solutions provider secured a 250 MW wind energy project from Torrent Green Energy, a subsidiary of Torrent Group.

The stock fell to a low of Rs 46.56 apiece in early trading, later settling at Rs 46.74, marking a 0.45 percent decrease. This dip occurred even as the company confirmed this was its sixth order from Torrent, boosting their cumulative partnership to over 1.3 GW across Gujarat, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh.

Suzlon Energy stated it would supply 76 of its flagship S144 wind turbines, each with a 3.3 MW capacity. The comprehensive agreement also includes grid integration and long-term Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services, known as AMS.

Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman at Suzlon Group, commented on the enduring partnership: “Torrent Green Energy has been one of our most valued partners for over a decade, and we are honoured that this relationship has grown into one of Suzlon’s largest customer partnerships. It is a reminder that in renewable energy, trust is earned through consistent performance, and long-term partnerships create the confidence to build India's energy future together.”

Ajay Kapur, Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon Group, highlighted the company's strong order book. “Customer confidence continues to be our biggest strength, which is reflected in 1.1 GW of new orders we've secured in FY27. This order further strengthens our presence in Madhya Pradesh, which is emerging as an important growth market for wind energy in India,” Kapur stated.

Globally, Suzlon has installed 22,000 MW of wind energy capacity across 17 countries. The company positions itself as a wind-first, full-stack renewable energy solutions conglomerate, with diverse businesses encompassing RE Technology (Wind, Solar, Storage), RE Development, RE Projects, and RE Asset Management. Its product portfolio includes 2.x MW, 3.x MW, 5.x MW, and 6.x MW wind turbine systems, alongside integrated renewable energy solutions.
