Suzlon Energy Ltd. shares experienced a dip in Wednesday's trading, falling over 2% to Rs 53.25 on the BSE. This occurred despite the renewable energy solutions provider unveiling an ambitious "Suzlon 2.0" growth strategy, aiming to significantly expand its global footprint and asset management services.
Suzlon 2.0: A Vision for Transformative Growth
The company announced plans for a transformative growth phase, aspiring to become one of the world's most integrated renewable energy companies. By fiscal year 2031 (FY31), Suzlon aims to:
- Quadruple its Assets Under Management (AUM) to 70 GW.
- Expand annual renewable energy sales fourfold to 10 GW.
- Grow its order book to 15 GW.
- Achieve a 40% market share in India’s wind energy sector.
- Secure 3 GW in export order intake.
This expansion will be supported by a strategic shift towards a higher-value mix, targeting a 60% volume contribution from its Renewable Energy Development Company (RE DevCo).
Leadership on the Energy Transition
Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, emphasized the global shift towards electrification. "The world is entering a super-cycle of electrification, and Suzlon 2.0 is built to partner with customers and nations to accelerate the energy transition," Tanti stated. He added that the company aims to deliver energy security through reliable and affordable wind-first solutions, from concept to lifetime asset management.
Ajay Kapur, CEO of Suzlon Group, highlighted the role of RE DevCo as the primary growth engine for Suzlon 2.0. He described it as India's first integrated renewable energy co-development platform, designed to overcome industry challenges by accelerating project readiness and market entry. "We aim to capture 60% of our volume contribution from RE DevCo, leading to 40% market share in the Indian wind market," Kapur affirmed.
Current Capacity and Future Expansion
Currently, Suzlon boasts an installed wind energy capacity of 21.5 GW, with 15.5 GW in India and 6 GW spread across 17 countries globally. The company plans to leverage digital pathways and its extensive service network to maximize asset performance throughout their lifecycle, ensuring long-term reliability and efficiency for renewable energy assets across wind, solar, hybrid, and multi-brand portfolios.
