Summit SIF, a specialized investment fund from Invesco Asset Management (India), has introduced the Summit Active Asset Allocator Long-Short Fund. This new offering aims to capitalize on pricing inefficiencies across various asset classes, moving beyond reliance on general market direction.
The New Fund Offer (NFO) commenced on October 12 and will conclude on October 26, 2026. Investors considering this fund should note the minimum investment requirement of ₹10 lakh for regular eligible investors, while accredited investors can participate with ₹1 lakh.
Understanding the Multi-Arbitrage Strategy
A key distinguishing feature of the Summit SIF fund is its comprehensive multi-arbitrage strategy. Unlike traditional arbitrage, which primarily focuses on differences between cash and futures markets, this fund broadens its scope to include:
- Synthetic Arbitrage: Exploiting mispricings in derivative combinations.
- Index Arbitrage: Capturing discrepancies between an index and its constituent stocks.
- Commodity Arbitrage: Finding price differences in commodity markets.
- Special Situations: Identifying unique event-driven opportunities.
This approach allows for dynamic allocation across a wide range of instruments, including equities, debt, equity and debt derivatives, Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs), and commodity derivatives. The fund also has the flexibility to take limited short exposure through permitted derivatives.
Investment Goals and Risks
The core objective of the strategy is to capture available spreads while maintaining limited directional market exposure. However, it is crucial for investors to understand that this does not guarantee returns or insulate the fund from potential market losses. Specialized investment funds inherently carry risks, including the potential for capital loss, liquidity constraints, and market volatility.
Deepak Gupta will manage the fund. Its benchmark is a composite of 40% Nifty 500 TRI, 40% CRISIL Short Term Bond Fund Index, and 20% iCOMDEX Composite Index, reflecting its diverse investment framework.
Liquidity and Exit Loads
While subscriptions are accepted daily, redemptions are available only twice a week, specifically on Mondays and Wednesdays, subject to business day adjustments. This limited redemption schedule is an important consideration for investors who might require more frequent access to their capital.
The fund also applies an exit load structure:
- 0.50% for redemptions within 30 days.
- 0.25% for redemptions after 30 days but within 60 days.
- No exit load for redemptions made after 60 days.
Prospective investors are strongly advised to thoroughly review the scheme documents, understand the investment strategy, assess associated costs, and examine risk disclosures before making any investment decisions. An arbitrage-focused approach, while aiming for reduced directional risk, does not assure stable or low-risk returns.
