BITS Pilani-backed edtech startup sortmyprep has successfully closed a pre-seed funding round, securing $350,000. The investment, led by a group of Indian and global angel investors, is earmarked to accelerate the expansion of its vertical AI education platform and broaden its curriculum reach in India and internationally.
The funding round saw significant participation from prominent figures including Boman Irani, Chairman of Rustomjee Group and Rustomjee International School; Sameer Mehta, co-founder of boAt; Subrat Pani, co-founder of OneAssist; Rohini Kasturi, CEO of HG Insights; and Ranjit Pawar, APAC Head at London Stock Exchange Group. This new capital builds on early institutional backing from PIEDS, BITS Pilani.
Operating under ZKAP Edtech Service Private Limited, sortmyprep currently specializes in international school curricula. Its flagship product, 'sorty,' is a board-aligned conversational AI tutor and a 24x7 personalized doubt-solving platform designed to enhance student learning and exam performance.

The fresh capital will be strategically deployed to fortify sortmyprep's proprietary AI infrastructure, expand its comprehensive curriculum coverage, and accelerate its market penetration across India and various international markets. The platform presently serves students in over 15 countries, demonstrating its global potential.
Founded by Ananya, Aryaman, and Naman, sortmyprep integrates advanced AI architecture with expert-validated academic workflows to deliver curriculum-aligned exam preparation. The company boasts a proprietary academic dataset comprising over one million human-generated learning data points and has achieved remarkable organic growth, with 71% of its users acquired through referrals and word-of-mouth.

Beyond its investor base, sortmyprep benefits from strategic partnerships and programs with leading technology and educational institutions, including Nvidia, Google for Startups, OpenAI, BITS Pilani, and Ashoka University.
