Sigma Advanced Systems Ltd. has announced significant orders for its cutting-edge Indrajaal Ranger autonomous anti-drone defense system, totaling approximately ₹155 crore. This development has propelled the company's shares to hit a 5% upper circuit in early trading on Tuesday.
The Indrajaal Ranger, developed in partnership with Indrajaal Autonomous Defense Systems, represents a new category of homeland security vehicle. It is purpose-built to detect, track, identify, and counter rogue drones effectively, even while moving at high speeds. India is now reportedly the first country to implement such a comprehensive anti-drone patrolling system for both border and urban environments.
Orders Bolster Border and Urban Security
The bulk of the new orders, valued at ₹145 crore, has been awarded to the Indrajaal-Sigma consortium for deployment in India’s critical border security zones. This strategic initiative aims to significantly strengthen surveillance and defense capabilities in sensitive areas, addressing evolving threats from unmanned aerial vehicles.
In a separate but equally important development, an order worth approximately ₹10 crore has been secured from the urban police segment. This deployment will introduce the Indrajaal Ranger system for crucial VVIP protection and broader urban security applications, extending counter-drone measures beyond traditional military installations to city streets and vital routes.
Strategic Impact and Market Reaction
Sunil Kalidindi, CEO of Sigma Advanced Systems, emphasized the indigenous strength showcased by this program. "This milestone demonstrates Sigma’s capabilities and underscores our strategic partnership with Indrajaal in strengthening India's border and urban security with a critical next-generation capability," Kalidindi stated.
Following the announcement, shares of Sigma Advanced Systems surged to an upper circuit of 5%, reaching ₹658.15. The company's market capitalization rose to ₹11,599 crore, reflecting strong investor confidence in its innovative defense technologies and strategic market positioning.
The combined orders mark a significant expansion of the Indrajaal Ranger’s deployment, highlighting a growing adoption of autonomous defense technologies within India’s security infrastructure to tackle modern aerial threats.
