Shyam Metalics Shares Rise as August Sales Show Strong Growth in Steel, Alloys

Shyam Metalics and Energy Ltd. saw its shares jump after reporting significant sales growth in August, with overall volumes up nearly 28% year-on-year. Strong performance was noted across carbon steel, metallics, and stainless steel segments.

Shyam Metalics and Energy Ltd. experienced a notable surge in its share price on Monday following the release of robust sales data for August. The company reported substantial year-on-year growth across most of its key product segments, signaling strong operational performance.

Overall, Shyam Metalics announced an impressive 27.97% increase in sales volumes compared to the previous year. This growth was complemented by a 23.44% rise in average realizations on a year-on-year basis, indicating both higher quantities sold and improved pricing.

Key Segment Performance Highlights

The company's carbon steel flat products segment led the growth, with sales volumes more than doubling. Specific figures include:

  • Carbon Steel Flat Products: Volumes surged by 114.14% year-on-year to 29,262 metric tonnes in August. Average realization for this segment also increased by 13.87%.
  • Metallics: Sales volumes rose 27.97% to 334,957 metric tonnes. Realizations in this segment grew by 8.73%.
  • Stainless Steel: Volumes increased by 16.44% year-on-year to 10,920 metric tonnes, with a significant 45.51% jump in average realization.
  • Speciality Alloys: This segment saw a 27.97% rise in sales volumes, reaching 19,002 metric tonnes, accompanied by a 23.44% increase in average realization.
  • Aluminium Foil: Sales volumes for aluminium foil grew by 27.41% to 1,915 metric tonnes, with average realization up 21.17%.
  • Carbon Steel Long Products: Volumes increased modestly by 2.76%, with average realization up 2.54%.

The company's shares reacted positively to the news, climbing as much as 1.78% in early Monday trade to reach Rs 1,085 per share on the BSE, up from its previous close of Rs 1,066.05.

New Ventures Progressing

Shyam Metalics also highlighted the successful progress of its new aluminium foil plant in Sambalpur. Commissioned in July 2026 with a capacity of 0.018 million tonnes per annum, the plant has already achieved stable operations and is reportedly performing well, contributing to the overall positive outlook.

"There has been an increase of 27.97% in sales volumes, whereas the realizations have increased by 23.44% on a YoY basis," the company stated in its official sales release.

The strong August performance underscores Shyam Metalics' robust position in the metals industry, driven by diversified product offerings and strategic capacity expansions.
