State Bank of India has initiated a major recruitment drive, inviting applications for 7,150 apprentice positions nationwide. Graduates aged 20-28 can apply online for the one-year training program from May 19 to June 8, 2026.

The State Bank of India (SBI) has announced one of its most significant apprenticeship recruitment drives for the year, offering 7,150 apprentice posts across various units and regions under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961. This presents a substantial opportunity for graduates seeking professional training within the banking sector.

Key Application Details

Online applications for these positions commenced on May 19, 2026, and will remain active until June 8, 2026. Prospective candidates must submit their applications through the official SBI apprenticeship portal. The recruitment process is managed by SBI's Central Recruitment & Promotion Department at the Corporate Centre in Mumbai.

Successful applicants will be enrolled in a one-year apprenticeship training program. The schedule for the written examination, a crucial part of the selection process, will be announced separately at a later date.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess a graduate degree in any discipline from a university recognized by the government.
  • Age Limit: Applicants should be between 20 and 28 years of age as of April 30, 2026. Age relaxation will be provided for candidates belonging to reserved categories, in accordance with government regulations.

SBI strongly advises all interested individuals to carefully review and verify their eligibility before proceeding with their online application.

Selection Process

The selection for the SBI apprentice posts is a multi-stage process designed to identify qualified candidates:

  1. Written Examination: The initial stage involves a written test.
  2. Local Language Test: Candidates who qualify the written examination will undergo a test to assess their proficiency in the local language of the region they applied for.
  3. Document Verification: Successful candidates will then proceed to a document verification stage.
  4. Medical Examination: The final stage involves a medical examination.

Applicants must qualify at each stage of the selection process as per SBI's established guidelines.

Application Fee

An application fee of Rs 300 is applicable for candidates from the General, Other Backward Classes (OBC), and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) categories. However, candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) categories are fully exempted from paying the application fee. Payments can only be made through online modes. Applicants are advised to meticulously follow all instructions provided on the official recruitment portal during the application submission.
