· · 2 min read

Royal Enfield plans a significant ₹2,500 crore investment for a new greenfield motorcycle manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh. This strategic expansion aims to boost production capacity beyond its current near-full utilization of 1.46 million units annually.

Royal Enfield, a global leader in the mid-size motorcycle segment (250cc-750cc), announced on May 18, 2026, its intention to invest approximately ₹2,500 crore in a new greenfield manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh. This strategic move is poised to significantly ramp up the company's production capacity and support its ambitious growth trajectory.

The motorcycle manufacturer is in the process of acquiring a land parcel in Tata (Tirupati) for the proposed plant. The investment, subject to board approval, will be implemented in a phased manner, carefully calibrated to future market demand and conditions.

Expanding Production Capabilities

Currently, Royal Enfield operates at near full utilization, producing around 1.46 million motorcycles annually across its existing facilities. This new investment in Andhra Pradesh is crucial for augmenting the company's manufacturing footprint and meeting increasing global demand.

In February 2026, Royal Enfield had already committed ₹958 crore for capacity expansion in Cheyyar, Tamil Nadu, which is projected to increase its total capacity to 2 million units. The Andhra Pradesh plant will further enhance this figure, providing a strong impetus for the next phase of the company's growth.

B Govindarajan, Managing Director - Eicher Motors Ltd., and Chief Executive Officer - Royal Enfield, commented, “We currently operate four world-class manufacturing facilities in Tamil Nadu, with a total projected capacity of 2 million units annually. This investment in Andhra Pradesh will augment that capacity and provide the impetus for our next phase of growth.”

Commitment to Regional Development

Govindarajan also expressed gratitude to the Government of Andhra Pradesh for their support, highlighting the state's immense potential. Royal Enfield already boasts a substantial presence in Andhra Pradesh, with over 100 retail and service outlets and more than 1,200 direct and indirect employment opportunities, underscoring its contribution to the state's industrial and economic landscape.

In the fiscal year 2026, Royal Enfield marked its second consecutive year of delivering over one million motorcycles, crossing the 1.2 million unit mark. The company operates four manufacturing facilities in Tamil Nadu, India, and seven CKD (Completely Knocked Down) facilities across various international locations, including Bangladesh, Nepal, Brazil, Thailand, Argentina, and Colombia. Globally, Royal Enfield reaches customers through more than 3,200 stores across India and over 80 countries.
