· · 2 min read

PVR Inox Ltd. announced its board will meet on August 31, 2026, to discuss a potential equity share buyback. This comes as the company's stock has declined 29% over the past three years, despite recent "Buy" recommendations from brokerages.

Cinema chain operator PVR Inox Ltd. has scheduled a board meeting for August 31, 2026, to deliberate and potentially approve a proposal for the buyback of its equity shares. The announcement was made to the BSE, signaling a significant corporate action for the company.

This move comes at a time when PVR Inox shares have faced considerable pressure, experiencing a 29% decline in value over the past three years. Despite the prolonged downtrend, the stock has recently garnered attention from several brokerages. Over the last month, a dozen firms, including IIFL, Investec, Kotak Institutional Equities, and ICICI Securities, have issued 'Buy' recommendations, with a 12-month Bloomberg consensus target suggesting an 11.6% potential upside from current levels.

Positive Financial Indicators and Growth Plans

Analysts point to the company's surprisingly strong financial performance in the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, which saw a 33% growth in EBITDA. Furthermore, PVR Inox achieved a net cash positive status for the first time in several years, indicating improved financial health. The company also remains on track with its expansion strategy, aiming to add 80 net screens in FY27, as noted by Nuvama in a recent report.

Trading Window Closure Ahead of Board Meet

In adherence to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Prohibition of Insider Trading) Regulations, 2015, the trading window for PVR Inox securities will be closed for designated persons and their immediate relatives. This restriction will be in effect from August 25, 2026, to September 2, 2026, encompassing the period of the board meeting and the subsequent announcement of its outcome.

The company has stated that the results of the August 31 board meeting will be communicated to the stock exchanges promptly after its conclusion, in compliance with SEBI Listing Regulations.
