Purple Style Labs IPO Opens: Analysts Divided on Luxury Fashion Platform's Prospects

· · 3 min read

Purple Style Labs, operator of Pernia’s Pop-Up Shop, has launched its Rs 680 crore IPO with shares priced at Rs 546-575. Analysts offer mixed views, citing concerns over modest revenue growth and widening losses despite its niche in luxury fashion.

The initial public offering (IPO) for Purple Style Labs (PSL), the company behind the luxury omnichannel fashion platform Pernia’s Pop-Up Shop (PPUS), opened for subscription on Monday, August 31, 2026. The company aims to raise Rs 680 crore through a fresh share sale, with shares offered in a price band of Rs 546-575 apiece.

Investors can bid for a minimum of 26 shares and in multiples thereof, with the issue closing on Wednesday, September 02. Despite PSL's differentiated position in the Indian luxury fashion market, brokerage firms have presented a mixed outlook on the IPO, highlighting both its strengths and significant concerns.

Business Model and Market Position

Incorporated in 2015, Purple Style Labs operates a multi-brand luxury fashion platform specializing in Indian wedding and occasion wear. Its Pernia’s Pop-Up Shop brand offers a curated portfolio from 1,109 active designer brands across womenswear, menswear, jewellery, accessories, and kidswear. PSL boasts an omnichannel presence, integrating online platforms with physical 'Experience Centers' to serve both domestic and international customers.

Strengths identified by analysts include a diversified designer portfolio, robust omnichannel presence, and improving customer retention. This strategy positions PSL to capitalize on the expanding luxury and wedding wear markets, offering a personalized shopping experience.

Analyst Concerns and Financial Performance

However, several brokerage firms have flagged significant risks. Key concerns include:

  • Modest Revenue Growth: PSL's revenue growth has been modest, with a CAGR of only 5.2% between FY24 and FY26.
  • Widening Losses: The company reported a net loss of Rs 285.40 crore in FY26, a substantial increase from Rs 188.38 crore in FY25.
  • Declining EBITDA and Margin Pressure: EBITDA has declined, and margins contracted due to a higher mix of liquidation inventory and GST-related changes.
  • High Fixed Costs: Elevated operating costs, coupled with higher finance and lease costs, limit near-term profitability and valuation visibility.

SBI Securities assigned a 'neutral' rating, stating, "Any improvement in profitability will depend on the maturity of experience centres to absorb the higher proportion of fixed costs. While the issue proceeds are expected to support lease payments and marketing expenditure, visibility on sustainable profitability remains limited at present."

BP Equities advised an 'avoid' rating, citing the "demanding P/S multiple and competitive intensity in the premium luxury fashion market." KC Securities also maintained a 'neutral' view, noting the demanding valuation at 7.7 times FY26 EV/Sales given the limited profitability visibility.

Conversely, Anand Rathi Research gave a 'subscribe for long-term' rating, acknowledging that while profitability and execution remain key monitorable factors, the IPO is "fully priced." Master Capital Services echoed this, recommending a 'subscribe' for the long term, emphasizing PSL's potential to benefit from market trends.
