PSU Stocks: SBI, Coal India, HAL Under Spotlight for Traders

· · 2 min read

Analysts offer trading insights for State Bank of India, Coal India, and Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL). While HAL shows a bullish reversal, caution is advised for SBI due to a trendline breakdown and for Coal India near key resistance.

Indian public sector undertaking (PSU) stocks State Bank of India (SBI), Coal India, and Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) are drawing significant attention from traders. Technical analyst Laxmikant Shukla from YES Securities has provided key levels, target prices, and stop-loss recommendations for these prominent stocks ahead of today's trading session.

Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL): Buy Opportunity

HAL, despite a recent retreat from its high of Rs 5,150, is currently presenting a buying opportunity. The stock formed a 'dragonfly doji' candlestick pattern around the Rs 4,700 mark after twelve sessions of profit booking, signaling a potential bullish reversal. The positive sentiment is further supported by the stock consistently trading above its long-term moving averages, indicating an intact broader uptrend.

  • Recommendation: Buy
  • Anticipated Upside Target: Rs 5,000–5,100
  • Stop Loss: Rs 4,500

Any pullback towards the support zone near Rs 4,700 could be considered a strategic entry point for traders.

Coal India: Exercise Caution

Coal India Ltd. recently experienced a consolidation breakout but subsequently saw a pullback. The stock is now facing strong resistance from its 50-medium moving average, which is expected to act as a significant hurdle around Rs 428. The measured target of its breakout pattern also aligns with these resistance levels.

  • Recommendation: Caution
  • Resistance: Rs 428
  • Support: Rs 395

Given the sharp run-up and proximity to a key resistance area, further upside may be limited in the near term. Fresh buying is not advised at current levels; traders should wait for a period of consolidation or a healthy pullback before considering new entries.

State Bank of India (SBI): Remain Cautious

State Bank of India has shown an ascending trendline breakdown on its daily chart, indicating potential selling pressure. A short-term support zone is anticipated to emerge around Rs 990 to Rs 1,000, correlating with a previous swing low. However, if the stock fails to recover meaningfully from this area, further downside could occur.

  • Recommendation: Caution
  • Resistance: Rs 1,070
  • Support: Rs 990

A breakdown below the Rs 990–1,000 support range could potentially push the stock towards the Rs 960 to Rs 950 regions. The broader outlook for SBI remains cautious unless it achieves a decisive move above the strong resistance near Rs 1,070, which would signal a possible shift in the prevailing trend.
