The inaugural journey of the Prayagraj–Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) Amrit Bharat Express has garnered an overwhelming response, with all tickets for its maiden trip from Prayagraj to Mumbai reportedly sold out. This new weekly service marks a significant expansion in Indian Railways' efforts to provide modern, affordable long-distance connectivity.
Service Details and Schedule
Initially operating as a special train, the service has now been regularised as Train No. 20436/20435 Prayagraj–Lokmanya Tilak Terminus–Prayagraj Amrit Bharat Express. Train No. 20436 departs from Prayagraj Junction every Friday at 6:10 pm, arriving at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at approximately 3:45 pm the following day. For the return journey, Train No. 20435 leaves LTT on Saturday at 5:20 pm and reaches Prayagraj by 12:40 pm on Sunday.
Route and Major Stoppages
Covering a distance of roughly 1,341 kilometers, the Amrit Bharat Express includes several important stoppages along its route. Key stations include:
- Satna
- Jabalpur
- Itarsi
- Bhusaval
- Kalyan
These stops ensure connectivity to various cities and major railway junctions between Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.
Modern Amenities Onboard
The Amrit Bharat Express operates with a 22-coach rake, designed to offer enhanced passenger comfort while maintaining an affordable fare structure. The train composition includes:
- 11 General Coaches
- 8 Sleeper Coaches
- 1 Pantry Car
- 2 Luggage-cum-Guard/Divyangjan Coaches
Passengers can look forward to improved seating arrangements, convenient charging points, bottle holders, and snack tables, enhancing the overall travel experience.
Expanding Rail Connectivity
The introduction of the Prayagraj-LTT Amrit Bharat Express is part of a broader initiative by the North Central Railway to boost connectivity in the Prayagraj region. This expansion also includes the regularisation of two other services: the Prayagraj–Udhna Amrit Bharat Express (20437/20438), which commenced regular service from August 24, and the Subedarganj–LTT Amrit Bharat Express (14121/14122), scheduled to begin from August 28.
The strong demand for the Prayagraj-LTT service underscores the significant need for direct rail links between eastern Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai, benefiting students, workers, and families alike.
