A recent midnight break-in at a mobile phone shop in Bhilwara, Rajasthan, captured on CCTV, has revealed a burglar wearing a mask depicting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The thief, or an accomplice, reportedly made off with dozens of smartphones, valued between Rs 4 lakh and Rs 5 lakh.
Midnight Heist at Mateshwari Mobile Shop
The incident occurred at Mateshwari Mobile Shop in Kareda, Bhilwara district. According to reports, the suspects gained entry by forcing open a staircase gate and accessing the premises through the roof. Shop owner Laxman Sen discovered the extensive theft the following morning, finding the shop ransacked and a significant number of phones missing. Footage from the shop's surveillance cameras purportedly shows one of the individuals involved in the theft clearly wearing the distinctive PM Modi mask.
Police Investigate and Second Incident
Upon receiving the report, Kareda police station officer Puranmal Meena and a team arrived at the scene to inspect the damage and gather evidence. A case has been registered, and authorities are now meticulously reviewing the CCTV footage to identify the suspects and trace their movements. Investigators are also focusing on the entry and exit routes utilized by the thieves.
Adding to local concerns, a separate attempted burglary occurred the same night at Sanwariya Mobile Shop, also in Kareda. CCTV footage from this location reportedly shows a suspect attempting to break the shutter lock, again wearing a similar PM Modi mask. These incidents have prompted local traders to demand increased night patrolling and a stronger police presence within the market area to deter further criminal activity.
