Ola Electric Mobility Ltd. saw its shares advance 6 percent on Friday following the launch of its all-new S1Z scooter. This new range marks a significant milestone, being the first in India to integrate Ola's indigenously developed Bharat Cell LFP technology into the mass market.
The S1Z scooter utilizes Ola's indigenous 46-series LFP cell platform technology, which was developed at its Battery Innovation Centre and is manufactured at the Ola Gigafactory. This vertical integration is aimed at making advanced EV technology more accessible to the country's largest electric vehicle buying segment.
Available in 3.1 kWh and 5.1 kWh variants, the S1Z is offered at introductory ex-showroom prices of Rs 79,999 and Rs 99,999, respectively. The 3.1 kWh variant promises a range of up to 179 km (IDC), while the 5.1 kWh variant boasts an impressive range of up to 301 km (IDC) on a single charge.
Ola Electric stated that by developing and manufacturing its Bharat Cell LFP technology in-house, it has been able to significantly reduce battery costs, which typically represent the largest cost component of an electric vehicle. This strategy makes next-generation battery technology available at mass-market price points, offering safer, longer-lasting LFP chemistry without compromising affordability.
Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman & Managing Director of Ola Electric, highlighted the importance of indigenous technology reaching everyday Indians. He stated, "The S1Z delivers on that promise. It is the first scooter range to bring our made-in-India LFP technology to the heart of the market, where millions of customers make their mobility decisions." Aggarwal added that the S1Z stands for ‘more’ or ‘Zyada’ – more safety, range, technology, and value.
The S1Z is powered by MoveOS 5, Ola's latest software intelligence, bringing advanced features to the mass segment. These include cruise control, advanced regenerative braking, and reverse mode, enhancing the overall riding experience.
The scooter will be available in four distinct colors: White, Anthracite, Sky Splash Blue, and Matcha Green, and rides on 12-inch wheels across all variants. Deliveries for the 3.1 kWh variant are slated to begin in December 2026, with the 5.1 kWh variant commencing deliveries from March 2027.
