Shares of Ola Electric Mobility Ltd. experienced a 2% uptick in Thursday's trading session. This surge comes as the company's board is slated to convene on Saturday, September 5, to deliberate a proposal for raising funds.
Ola Electric Considers Diverse Fundraising Options
The proposed fundraising initiative could involve various mechanisms, including the issuance of equity shares or other eligible securities. Ola Electric has indicated that potential methods might encompass a private placement, a Qualified Institutions Placement (QIP), a preferential issue, or any combination thereof, all subject to necessary regulatory approvals.
The board meeting on September 5 will also address other key corporate matters. These include reviewing the company's Annual Report for the financial year concluded on March 31, 2026, and discussing arrangements for the upcoming Annual General Meeting.
Significant PLI Incentive Boosts Sentiment
This fundraising consideration closely follows a notable financial boost for Ola Electric. The company recently announced it had received a sanction order from the Ministry of Heavy Industries for the release of Rs 95.81 crore in incentives. This amount is provided under the Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Automobile and Auto Components (PLI-Auto Scheme).
Specifically, this incentive pertains to the Demand Incentive for the fiscal year 2027, with IFCI Ltd., the Central Nodal Agency for the scheme, facilitating the payment. This marks the third consecutive year Ola Electric has benefited from the PLI-Auto Scheme, having previously received Rs 73.74 crore for FY24 and Rs 366.78 crore for FY25.
Market Performance Amid Broader Trends
Ola Electric's stock opened at Rs 39.43, climbing to a high of Rs 39.69 per share, an increase of 1.82%. This positive movement occurred despite a general downturn in the broader auto sector, where the Nifty Auto index recorded a 0.29% decline during morning trade.
Analyst commentary suggests that while Ola Electric is actively working to enhance operational execution, reduce costs, and conserve cash, alongside efforts to improve brand perception by resolving service-related issues, the path ahead might be challenging. Increased competition from established players and the scaling efforts of rivals like Ather Energy could present significant hurdles.
