· · 2 min read

Nuvama Institutional Equities has maintained its 'Buy' rating on Tata Communications, setting a target price of Rs 2,300. The brokerage forecasts a 28% upside, highlighting the company's unique tech-telecom positioning and renewed focus on profitable growth.

Nuvama Institutional Equities has reiterated its 'Buy' rating for Tata Communications Ltd (TCOM), setting an unchanged target price of Rs 2,300. This target implies a significant 28% upside from the current trading price of approximately Rs 1,796.90. The brokerage firm remains optimistic about Tata Communications, viewing it as a distinctive player in the technology and telecom sectors.

Why Nuvama is Bullish on Tata Communications

Nuvama's positive outlook stems from several key factors, particularly the company's renewed emphasis on profitable growth under its new management. The brokerage recently met with Managing Director and CEO Ganesh Lakshminarayanan to assess business opportunities and understand the strategic direction.

Unique Tech-Telecom Play

Tata Communications is lauded for its pure-play B2B network DNA, positioning it as a preferred partner for enterprises over competitors. Nuvama notes that only a few pure-play B2B connectivity providers, such as Orange and AT&T, exist globally, with TCOM among them. The company boasts robust core connectivity capabilities, including 65 cable systems (owned directly or via consortiums), 600 paths, and 15 landing stations. Impressively, 35% of global internet traffic and 75% of Indian financial traffic traverse TCOM's network.

Growing Cloud and AI Opportunities

The brokerage sees no structural concerns regarding the India cloud opportunity, with cloud adoption continuing to gain momentum and substantial room for further growth. While 30% of workloads have migrated to the cloud, a significant 70% remain offline or on-premise, indicating vast potential. Furthermore, enterprises are increasingly leveraging AI for hyper-personalized customer experiences, a gap TCOM aims to address by providing AI-powered solutions.

Strategic Management Vision

Nuvama highlights that TCOM's new management perceives the company as one with extensive capabilities, adept at integrating diverse applications to meet client demands. The combination of infrastructure, platform, and services provides Tata Communications a competitive edge. With the escalating demand for data center-to-data center connectivity, TCOM is also experiencing a shift in pricing models, moving from fixed-pay to more flexible transaction-based or outcome-based arrangements.

In summary, Nuvama concludes that Tata Communications is committed to enhancing digital business profitability, is well-positioned to capitalize on data center connectivity demand, and possesses intact growth drivers. Its unique offering of infrastructure, platform, and services makes it a standout player in the market.
