Nifty50 Forecast: Monarch Capital Predicts 26,000-26,500 Target in 4-5 Months

· · 3 min read

Monarch Networth Capital anticipates the Nifty50 index could reach 26,000-26,500 within the next four to five months. This optimistic outlook is driven by expected declines in US bond yields and a weaker dollar, alongside robust domestic inflows.

Indian investors, currently navigating market uncertainties, have received an optimistic forecast from Monarch Networth Capital. The firm projects the Nifty50 index to achieve fresh record highs of 26,000-26,500 over the next four to five months, driven by shifting global macroeconomic conditions and strong domestic liquidity.

Global Shifts Paving the Way for Indian Equities

Gaurav Bhandari, CEO of Monarch Networth Capital, highlights several factors expected to create a more favorable environment for Indian equities. He points to an anticipated decline in US bond yields, a renewed weakening of the US dollar, and a revival in global capital flows as key catalysts for a domestic market recovery.

“The yield at 5.35% is not a new normal; it is the peak of an extreme that is already breaking the US economy from the inside,” Bhandari stated, referring to the US 10-year Treasury yield.

Bhandari argues that current elevated US borrowing costs, with the 10-year Treasury yield recently hitting 5.35%, are unsustainable given the US government debt exceeding $35 trillion and annual interest payments nearing $1.8 trillion. Historical precedents from 2002 and 2007, where yields above 5.25% were followed by significant declines, support this view.

Dollar Weakness and Twin Deficits

The US is also contending with significant fiscal and trade deficits, a combination Bhandari believes historically precedes periods of dollar weakness. He predicts the US Dollar Index, which dipped below 100 in 2026, could further decline towards 95. A depreciating dollar typically encourages global investors to increase their exposure to emerging markets, with Indian equities positioned to benefit.

Liquidity Influx and FII Positioning

A substantial $6.3 trillion held in US money market funds could also reallocate. Bhandari suggests that falling yields would diminish the attractiveness of these funds, prompting investors to seek higher returns in riskier assets like equities. The unwinding of global carry trades is also expected to accelerate capital movements.

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) currently hold substantial short positions in Indian equity futures. A positive shift in sentiment, fueled by improving global liquidity, could trigger significant short covering, further boosting market momentum. This, combined with consistent domestic inflows of approximately Rs 31,000 crore per month, is expected to provide a strong cushion for the Indian market.

Nifty50 Target and Investment Strategy

Bhandari's Nifty50 target of 26,000-26,500 is contingent on a reversal in US yields, sustained dollar weakness, and an improvement in capital flows. He advises investors to focus on selective buying in fundamentally strong, high-quality stocks rather than adopting an overly defensive stance. The extent of any market re-rating will depend on the evolution of global financial conditions and the sustainability of both foreign and domestic investment flows.
