· · 2 min read

Maruti Suzuki's upcoming New Brezza compact SUV has earned a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP for both adult and child occupant protection. This achievement positions it as the fifth Maruti model to receive top safety honors ahead of its July 24 launch.

Maruti Suzuki India has announced that its highly anticipated New Brezza compact SUV has secured a 5-star safety rating under the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP). The vehicle achieved top scores in both Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Child Occupant Protection (COP) categories.

This significant safety milestone comes just ahead of the New Brezza's official launch on July 24. It marks the fifth Maruti Suzuki model to receive a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, joining the Dzire, Victoris, Invicto, and e VITARA in the company's lineup of highly-rated vehicles.

Enhanced Safety Features and Construction

The New Brezza incorporates extensive use of ultra-high-tensile and high-tensile-strength steel in its construction, specifically designed to enhance crash protection for occupants. Maruti Suzuki emphasized that this structural integrity, combined with an expanded suite of safety technologies, aims to make advanced safety features more accessible across various segments.

Standard safety equipment across all variants of the compact SUV will include six airbags. Additionally, the New Brezza comes equipped with a comprehensive array of active safety features:

  • Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with Hill Hold Assist
  • Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Alert
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Front Parking Sensors
  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
  • Emergency Stop Signal
  • Safe Exit Warning
  • Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)
  • ISOFIX child seat anchorages
  • 360-degree camera

CEO Highlights Commitment to Safety

Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki, commented on the achievement, noting that the Brezza has been India’s highest-selling compact SUV since 2016. He stated, “Safety is at the core of our vehicle design philosophy,” and highlighted that the Bharat NCAP rating reinforces customer confidence in the vehicle.

Takeuchi further added that Maruti Suzuki has made six airbags standard across 16 models and 160 variants, demonstrating a broad commitment to occupant safety. According to the company, over 1.6 million new Maruti Suzuki customers benefited from advanced occupant safety features during the fiscal year 2025-26, representing the highest volume in the industry.
