NEET-UG Retest: Gujarat Deploys Drones, QRTs for Enhanced Exam Security

· · 2 min read

Gujarat authorities have implemented stringent security measures for the NEET-UG re-examination across Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Vadodara. Drones, Quick Response Teams, and online surveillance are deployed to prevent malpractice and ensure a fair test.

Authorities in Gujarat have significantly ramped up security protocols for the upcoming NEET-UG re-examination, scheduled for Sunday. Across the key cities of Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Vadodara, extensive measures including drone surveillance, Quick Response Teams (QRTs), and continuous online monitoring are being deployed to prevent any form of malpractice or disruption.

Ahmedabad's Comprehensive Security Plan

In Ahmedabad, where approximately 10,445 candidates are expected to appear at 23 examination centers, police preparations are comprehensive. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Reema Munshi stated that six DCPs, personnel from 15 police station jurisdictions, and traffic staff from 14 police stations will be on duty. The Crime Branch will also deploy QRTs for rapid intervention in case of any emergency.

Enhanced surveillance includes the use of eight drones for aerial monitoring around test centers. The Cyber Crime Branch and social media cell will conduct continuous online patrolling to curb the spread of rumors, misinformation, or panic. Additionally, photocopy centers near examination venues have been ordered to remain closed during exam hours, a restriction imposed by Gujarat Director General of Police G. S. Malik.

DCP Zone-1 Harshadkumar Patel confirmed that vehicles transporting question papers from strong rooms to exam centers will operate under police escort. Police personnel will be stationed at each center for frisking and general security, with traffic management and parking facilities also reviewed for applicants and their parents.

Gandhinagar and Vadodara Bolster Defenses

Gandhinagar will host the re-examination at five centers, expecting 2,597 students. According to Alok Kumar Tiwari, Gandhinagar City Coordinator and Principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sector-30, a robust three-tier security system is in place. This includes local police, central security agencies such as the Central Armed Police Forces, and academic observers from higher educational institutions to ensure fairness.

In Vadodara, preparations have also been finalized with the National Testing Agency (NTA). Police Commissioner Narasimha Komar reported that mock drills were conducted at 17 examination centers involving police, NTA officials, and other agencies. Guidelines regarding prohibited items have been issued, and special surveillance is being maintained to detect suspicious activities. Individuals linked to the 2024 paper leak case are under close monitoring, and stringent security is in place for strong rooms and the transportation of examination materials.

These coordinated efforts across Gujarat underscore the authorities' commitment to ensuring a secure and transparent re-examination process for all NEET-UG candidates.
