In a remarkable turn of events, 20-year-old Rithuparna KS from Karnataka, who initially missed out on an MBBS seat through the highly competitive NEET examination, has secured a coveted position with the global engineering giant Rolls-Royce. Her new role reportedly comes with an impressive annual package of ₹72.3 lakh.
For many Indian students, failing to secure a medical college admission can feel like the end of a dream. However, Rithuparna's journey demonstrates resilience and a successful pivot. Instead of dwelling on the disappointment, she chose an alternative path, enrolling in a Robotics and Automation Engineering program at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management (SCEM) in Mangaluru.
What began as a contingency plan quickly evolved into a passion. During her engineering studies, Rithuparna immersed herself in innovative projects and practical problem-solving. Among her notable early achievements was developing a robotics-based solution designed to assist arecanut farmers, a project that garnered international recognition. She actively participated in various technology-focused programs and research initiatives, honing her skills and expanding her expertise.
Her breakthrough opportunity arrived when she secured an internship with Rolls-Royce's Jet Engine Manufacturing Division. Rithuparna reportedly made a significant impression by completing a demanding assignment well ahead of schedule, a feat that led to an extended internship period.
This exceptional performance paved the way for a pre-placement offer from the prestigious company. Rithuparna was also recognized as one of 15 students from Dakshina Kannada selected for the DC Fellowship Programme, which focuses on real-world problem-solving. "My academic milestones, projects, and rigorous interviews helped me get an internship with the Rolls-Royce Company," she stated.
Following months of dedicated work and evaluation, her potential was fully recognized, culminating in a job offer that was later revised upward to the substantial ₹72.3 lakh per annum package. Rithuparna's inspiring story highlights that setbacks can often open doors to unforeseen and successful career paths.
