Namo Bharat Parking Closure Announced for Independence Day
Commuters planning to use the Namo Bharat and Meerut Metro services on August 14 and 15 should note an important advisory from the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). All parking facilities at Namo Bharat and Meerut Metro stations will remain closed on these dates, which fall on Friday and Saturday, respectively. This decision is a key part of the heightened security measures being implemented across the region in anticipation of Independence Day.
The NCRTC has emphasized that while parking areas will be inaccessible, passenger train services on both the Namo Bharat and Meerut Metro lines will continue to operate strictly according to their regular schedules. Passengers are therefore advised to make alternative arrangements for reaching the stations during this two-day period.
Train Services Remain Unaffected
Despite the temporary closure of station parking, the core objective is to ensure smooth and uninterrupted public transport. The continuation of train services as usual on August 15, Independence Day, will allow residents and visitors to commute and participate in festivities without disruption to their travel plans, provided they plan for station access.
Advance Notice and Passenger Arrangements
To mitigate inconvenience, the NCRTC began informing passengers about the impending parking closures through notices posted at parking locations and via its official mobile application. These advisories also included directives to clear vehicles from parking areas from Thursday onwards, ensuring facilities were empty ahead of the closure period.
Puneet Vats, Chief Public Relations Officer for NCRTC, confirmed that the decision to close station parking on August 14 and 15 was made purely for security reasons. This proactive step underscores the authorities' commitment to public safety during national celebrations, urging passengers to plan their journeys accordingly.
