· · 3 min read

Mercedes-Benz India's new CLA BEV entry-luxury sedan garnered 400 pre-launch bookings ahead of its April 24 debut. Available in three trims, the electric vehicle boasts up to 792 km range and advanced MB.OS technology.

Mercedes-Benz India has announced a strong start for its new entry-luxury electric sedan, the CLA BEV, securing 400 pre-launch bookings before its official debut on April 24. This marks a significant step in the German carmaker's electric vehicle strategy for the Indian market.

The CLA BEV is the first vehicle in India to be built on Mercedes-Benz's Modular Architecture (MMA) and to feature the proprietary MB.OS operating system. The vehicle is offered in three distinct trims: the CLA 200 Standard Range (Progressive Line), the CLA 250+ Long Range (AMG Line), and the top-tier CLA 250+ Launch Edition.

Pricing, Range, and Charging Capabilities

The CLA 200 Standard Range is priced at Rs 55 lakhs (ex-showroom) and offers a WLTP-certified range of 542 kilometres on a single charge. The CLA 250+ Long Range, available at Rs 59 lakh, features an 85.5 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack, delivering an impressive claimed range of 792 kilometres. The CLA BEV Launch Edition, priced at Rs 64 lakh, shares the same 792-kilometre range.

Both CLA 250+ variants utilize an 800-Volt architecture, enabling rapid charging. With a 240 kW DC fast charger, these models can add 400 kilometres of range in just 20 minutes. The CLA 200 Standard Range, under the same conditions, gains 320 kilometres of range. The CLA BEV supports DC charging up to 320 KW.

Advanced Technology and User Experience

At the core of the CLA BEV’s advanced capabilities is MB.OS, which supports over-the-air (OTA) updates for continuous feature improvements. The vehicle also introduces the MBUX Virtual Assistant, an AI-powered infotainment system that integrates cutting-edge technologies like ChatGPT4, Microsoft Bing, Gemini, and Google Maps to adapt to driver behavior. Furthermore, the CLA BEV is the first Mercedes-Benz model to incorporate the NVIDIA AI Stack, offering ADAS Level 2 as standard, with an OTA upgrade path to L2+ featuring Steering Assist. The NVIDIA chips in these vehicles are capable of up to 508 trillion operations per second.

Enhanced Battery Transparency and Warranty

Mercedes-Benz is also introducing a ‘High Voltage Battery Report’ for its BEV customers in India. This initiative aims to provide transparency and reassurance regarding the vehicle’s battery condition. The system-generated ‘State of Charge Energy (SOCE) Report’ will be produced by authorized workshops after a physical inspection and diagnostic evaluation of the high voltage battery, fostering customer confidence and trust in their electric vehicle purchase. For the CLA BEV, Mercedes-Benz offers a comprehensive battery warranty of 8 years or 160,000 kilometres.

Delivery Timelines

Deliveries for the CLA 200 Standard Range are scheduled to commence from June 2026, while customers who booked the CLA 250+ Long Range can expect deliveries to begin from the end of April.
