· · 2 min read

Manipal Health Enterprises has repaid ₹5,310 crore in debt, including non-convertible debentures, utilizing proceeds from its recent Initial Public Offering. This strategic move aims to lower interest costs and free up capital for future expansion, technology upgrades, and talent acquisition.

Manipal Health Enterprises, which operates Manipal Hospitals, has successfully repaid ₹5,310 crore of its debt using funds raised from its recent Initial Public Offering (IPO). This significant financial maneuver is expected to substantially reduce the company’s interest burden and provide greater flexibility for strategic investments in expansion, technology, and talent development.

Strategic Debt Repayment Post-IPO

The repayment specifically targeted and fully redeemed listed non-convertible debentures (NCDs) worth ₹5,310 crore, which were issued by its wholly-owned subsidiary, Manipal Hospitals Private Limited. This action aligns with the plan detailed in Manipal Health’s IPO prospectus dated July 31, 2026, and included the outstanding NCD principal, accrued interest, and any applicable prepayment or early redemption costs.

Commenting on the redemption, Sameer Agarwal, Chief Financial Officer, Manipal Health Enterprises, stated, “By deploying the IPO proceeds towards debt repayment as planned, we are strengthening our balance sheet, reducing our interest burden and creating greater financial headroom to support our growth plans. This gives us greater flexibility to continue investing in capacity, technology and talent while remaining focused on delivering quality and affordable healthcare.”

The company anticipates that this reduction in debt will enhance its financial stability, support profitable growth, and improve operational efficiency across its extensive network.
