Sumit Kumar Prajapati from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, completed an extraordinary journey, driving his e-rickshaw from Manali to Himachal Pradesh's Spiti Valley. He documented the challenging high-altitude trip, reaching elevations of 12,500 feet, across 27 Instagram videos.

In an extraordinary display of determination, Sumit Kumar Prajapati from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, embarked on an epic journey, driving his battery-powered e-rickshaw from Manali to the high-altitude Spiti Valley in Himachal Pradesh. The challenging expedition, which saw him reach elevations of approximately 12,500 feet, was meticulously documented across 27 videos shared on his Instagram account.

An Unlikely Himalayan Expedition

The adventure began on August 19, after Prajapati’s e-rickshaw was transported to Manali by truck. His friends had planned a car trip to Spiti, but without a personal vehicle, Sumit chose his trusty three-wheeler instead of abandoning the dream.

Navigating the treacherous Himalayan terrain presented unique obstacles. The e-rickshaw had to contend with steep, rocky mountain roads, and ensuring its battery remained charged became a critical aspect of the trip. Prajapati creatively managed this by charging the vehicle at various stopover points and carrying a portable generator for emergencies.

Viral Journey and Public Fascination

As Prajapati ventured deeper into the mountains, his unusual mode of transport quickly captured the attention of fellow travelers. Many stopped to observe and record the e-rickshaw tackling the challenging landscape, often questioning its capability to handle such rugged conditions. At one point, he was seen driving on a rocky stretch at an altitude of around 12,500 feet, drawing awe and curiosity.

Initially traveling solo, Prajapati later began offering rides to passengers, a suggestion he adopted after a viewer reminded him of the e-rickshaw's intended purpose. By August 26, his social media updates confirmed he had successfully reached Kunzum.

Reflecting on a Dream Achieved

While online claims suggested his journey might be a record-setting feat, particularly regarding being the first to reach Kunzum in an e-rickshaw, these have not been independently verified. Regardless, Prajapati's personal achievement is undeniable.

In a September 1 video reflecting on his adventure, Prajapati shared, “Everyone dreams of going away from the city and spending a few days in peace in a mountain village. I had a similar dream. But I didn't have a car.” He proudly added, “My e-rickshaw overcame every challenge and brought me here. I'm going even further.” His journey stands as a testament to ingenuity and perseverance against the odds.
