Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Ltd. (MLMML), the electric three-wheeler business of Mahindra & Mahindra, has officially entered India's prestigious unicorn club. The company achieved a valuation of ₹10,822 crore following a successful ₹322 crore funding round, spearheaded by global impact investor Lightrock.
This significant investment also saw continued participation from existing investors, including the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the India-Japan Fund (IJF), managed by the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF). The funding arrives ahead of MLMML's anticipated Initial Public Offering (IPO), slated for the second half of 2027.
Driving India's Commercial EV Transition
The valuation underscores growing investor confidence in India's commercial vehicle electrification sector, extending beyond passenger electric vehicles. The electric penetration in the L5 three-wheeler segment has surged dramatically from 12% to 40% in just two years, establishing it as one of the nation's fastest-growing EV categories.
Mahindra has solidified its position as a dominant force in this transition, commanding nearly 40% of the L5 electric three-wheeler market. The company's electric three-wheeler sales have seen a six-fold increase over the past four years. In the June quarter, volumes soared by 85% year-on-year, and in FY26, MLMML became the first electric commercial vehicle manufacturer in India to surpass 100,000 electric three-wheeler sales.

Lightrock praised Mahindra's focused execution in building a market-leading electric three-wheeler business, positioning it well to capitalize on the next phase of India's EV evolution.
"We welcome Lightrock as a partner, marking a pivotal milestone in our last-mile mobility business," said Anish Shah, Group CEO and Managing Director, Mahindra Group. "With Lightrock joining IFC and IJF, Mahindra Last Mile Mobility has now achieved unicorn status."
While much of India's EV investment has historically centered on passenger cars, electric three-wheelers have emerged as a significant electrification success story, propelled by lower operating costs, supportive government policies, and robust demand from commercial operators.
