LPG, CNG, PNG Prices Updated April 18: Check Rates in Delhi, Mumbai, Major Cities

· · 2 min read

Indian households and transport users face fluctuating LPG, CNG, and PNG prices on April 18. While 14.2 kg LPG rates were updated today, commercial LPG, CNG, and PNG figures reflect March 21 prices amidst global supply concerns.

Fuel prices for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) saw updates on April 18, 2026, impacting households and transport sectors across major Indian cities. While 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder prices were revised today, rates for commercial LPG, CNG, and PNG remain as of March 21, 2026.

Global Tensions and India's Fuel Supply

The ongoing conflict in West Asia continues to exert pressure on global energy markets, directly affecting fuel prices in India. The nation's significant reliance on imports, sourcing over 40% of its crude oil and 90% of its LPG from West Asian countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar, makes it particularly vulnerable to geopolitical instability.

Despite these challenges, the Petroleum Ministry has confirmed that LPG supplies are under close monitoring, with no reported dry-outs at distributorships. The ministry also refuted claims suggesting a four-year recovery period for India's LPG supply, emphasizing diversified procurement strategies that include imports from the US, Norway, Canada, Algeria, and Russia.

Government Support and Alternatives

To mitigate the impact of rising costs on vulnerable populations, the government continues to provide subsidies under schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). This initiative has extended gas connections to over 10 crore low-income families, helping to reduce their effective fuel expenses.

While LPG remains a primary cooking fuel, CNG and PNG are increasingly recognized as more stable and economical alternatives for both domestic and transport use.
