· · 2 min read

Consumers across India will find that the prices for 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) have remained unchanged for the month. Geopolitical Tensions Drive Future Price Concerns

While current domestic fuel prices remain stable, anxieties about potential future hikes have escalated following warnings issued by the United States to Iran. The US has demanded that Iran publicly declare the Strait of Hormuz open to commercial shipping and cease attacks on vessels transiting the strategic waterway. This ultimatum comes after the US declared an end to a ceasefire with Iran, despite ongoing diplomatic talks.

The Strait of Hormuz is a crucial global chokepoint for oil and gas shipments, and any disruption can significantly impact international energy prices. Shipping data on July 7 reflected increased caution, with a notable rise in 'dark crossings' through the strait, indicating vessels operating without broadcasting their positions. India's Nanda Devi, an LPG carrier, was reported as the sole inbound vessel at the time, heading to Qatar for loading, highlighting the heightened alert in the region.
