LPG, CNG, PNG Prices Unchanged Oct 5: Commercial Cylinders Rise, Households Stable

· · 2 min read

Domestic LPG, CNG, and PNG prices remain stable across major Indian cities on October 5, offering relief to households. However, commercial 19-kg LPG cylinders saw a price hike on October 1, affecting businesses nationwide.

Household budgets receive a measure of stability as domestic LPG, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) prices remain unchanged across major Indian cities on October 5. This comes despite ongoing volatility in global crude oil markets, offering relief to consumers.

Commercial LPG Prices See Hike

While domestic rates hold steady, businesses faced an increase in the cost of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders, effective October 1. This hike impacts establishments such as restaurants and hotels, raising operational costs ahead of the festive season.

  • In Delhi, a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder is priced at ₹2,810.
  • Mumbai sees rates at ₹2,764.50.
  • Kolkata’s price is ₹2,954.
  • And in Chennai, it stands at ₹2,983.

Domestic LPG Rates Stable

The price of 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders has been maintained at previous levels. For instance, a cylinder costs ₹942 in Delhi, ₹941.50 in Mumbai, ₹968 in Kolkata, and ₹957.50 in Chennai. Other major cities like Bengaluru (₹944.50), Hyderabad (₹994), and Jaipur (₹945.50) also saw no changes.

CNG and PNG Prices Unaffected

Consumers using CNG for vehicles and PNG for household cooking also benefit from price stability on October 5. Prices vary by city due to local taxes and distribution costs.

Current CNG Rates (per kg):

  • Delhi: ₹86.98
  • Mumbai: ₹88
  • Kolkata: ₹93.50
  • Chennai: ₹97.50

Current PNG Rates (per SCM):

  • Delhi: ₹49.59
  • Mumbai: ₹52
  • Kolkata: ₹50
  • Chennai: ₹52

Global Market Context

The decision to keep domestic fuel prices stable comes as global crude oil prices remain elevated. Brent crude was reported at $102.31 per barrel, and US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) at $90.27 per barrel on October 1, influenced by geopolitical tensions. Any sustained increase in international energy markets could potentially exert pressure on domestic fuel costs in the coming weeks.
