Land Rover Defender 110 Price Drops Up To Rs 34 Lakh After Local Production in India

· · 2 min read

Land Rover announced the local manufacturing of its Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE in India, leading to price reductions of up to ₹34 lakh. Deliveries for the Pune-produced SUV are set to begin November 15, 2026, with added standard features.

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has significantly reduced the price of its popular Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE in India, following the commencement of local manufacturing at its Pune facility. The move sees the premium SUV become up to ₹34 lakh cheaper for Indian consumers, with bookings now open and deliveries scheduled to start on November 15, 2026.

Substantial Price Reductions Across Variants

The decision to produce the Defender 110 locally has led to considerable cost savings. The 3.0-litre petrol and diesel variants of the X-Dynamic HSE are now priced at ₹1.18 crore each (ex-showroom), a notable reduction of ₹34 lakh from their previous ₹1.52 crore price tag. Similarly, the 2.0-litre petrol variant now costs ₹99 lakh, down ₹14.5 lakh from ₹1.135 crore.

Enhanced Standard Features for Indian Market

Beyond the price adjustments, local manufacturing also brings an array of additional features as standard equipment across the range. The 2.0-litre petrol variant now includes previously optional features worth up to ₹6.5 lakh, such as electronic air suspension, Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control, Terrain Response 2, three-zone climate control, and Cabin Air Purification Plus.

For the 3.0-litre petrol and diesel variants, the enhancements are even more extensive, adding up to ₹17 lakh in previously optional equipment. These include an electronic active differential, a Meridian surround sound system, a head-up display, climate-controlled rear seats, and 20-inch diamond-turned alloy wheels.

Strategic Move for Indian Market

JLR's commitment to local production aims to reduce waiting periods and improve accessibility for the Defender, while upholding its global engineering and quality benchmarks. Production for international markets and other Defender variants, including the Defender 90, Defender 130, and Defender OCTA, will continue at JLR’s Nitra facility in Slovakia.

“India’s appetite for adventure and modern luxury has never been stronger. Localising the Defender is a pivotal step in our ‘Reimagine’ strategy and reinforces our commitment to delivering the unrivalled breadth of capability to Indian clients,” stated Lennard Hoornik, Chief Commercial Officer, JLR.

Rajan Amba, Managing Director of JLR India, highlighted the Defender's strong performance in the country, with over 9,000 units already on Indian roads, making it the company’s highest-selling model. “This decision to now manufacture in Pune reflects the scale of our ambition for India and our confidence in the quality and passion of our team and partners here,” Amba added.
