· · 2 min read

The LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group will invest ₹600 crore to add 1,000 rooms and secure 20 management contracts over five years. The expansion prioritizes spiritual tourism, with new properties planned in Ahmedabad and Chitrakoot.

The LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group has announced a significant expansion plan, committing ₹600 crore to add 1,000 new rooms and pursue 20 management contracts across India over the next five years. A key focus of this growth strategy is India's booming spiritual tourism sector.

Strategic Investment in Spiritual and Mid-Segment Tourism

Jyotsna Suri, Chairperson and Managing Director of The LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group, detailed the investment during Business Today's Most Powerful Women Conclave 2026. She emphasized the group's commitment to spiritual tourism, noting its substantial growth. The plan includes developing mid-segment accommodations to provide safe, comfortable, and hygienic options for travelers, addressing a current gap in quality for such destinations.

Approximately ₹500 crore of the total investment is earmarked for new developments and expansion activities, while the remaining ₹100 crore will be allocated to upgrading and maintaining existing properties.

New Properties and Management Contracts

The addition of 1,000 rooms will see significant developments in key locations. A new property in Ahmedabad, situated on the banks of the Sabarmati river, is slated to add 250 rooms. Another 100 rooms are planned for a hotel in Chitrakoot, directly targeting the spiritual tourism market. Further expansions include 75 rooms across properties in Udaipur and Goa.

Beyond owned properties, The LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group is actively exploring management contracts in emerging tourist hubs, including Leh and Vrindavan, signaling a broader reach across diverse Indian landscapes.

Domestic Travel Boom and AI Impact

Deeksha Suri, Executive Director of The LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group, highlighted the robust demand in India's domestic travel market. She stated that there is no oversupply of rooms, with demand consistently outpacing current capacity. Post-COVID, individual domestic travel has emerged as a significant driver, alongside a surge in destination weddings, partly influenced by geopolitical disruptions affecting international travel.

Regarding artificial intelligence (AI), both Jyotsna and Deeksha Suri believe its impact on the hospitality sector will be limited. While AI tools may streamline administrative tasks and back-office operations, the core human element of service and interaction remains irreplaceable. Jyotsna Suri noted that unlike manufacturing or technology, hospitality will continue to be a strong job generator in India, reinforcing the importance of human touch in guest experiences.
