· · 2 min read

Juniper Green Energy Ltd. saw its shares fall 7% after reporting Q1 FY27 results, even as net profit surged 54% to Rs 33 crore. The market reacted despite robust growth in total income and significant new capacity commissioning.

Juniper Green Energy Ltd. experienced a notable 7% decline in its share price during Thursday's trading, despite the independent renewable energy producer reporting a robust 54% year-on-year (YoY) increase in net profit for the June quarter (Q1 FY27). The company's net profit reached Rs 33 crore, up from Rs 22 crore in the corresponding period last year.

The market's cautious reaction came even as the company demonstrated strong top-line growth. Total income for the quarter surged 79% YoY to Rs 324 crore, significantly higher than Rs 181 crore reported in the previous year's quarter. Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) also saw an impressive 86% YoY growth, hitting Rs 294 crore, with EBITDA margins expanding by 300 basis points to 91%.

Operational Expansion and Capacity Milestones

During Q1 FY27, Juniper Green Energy achieved its highest-ever renewable energy capacity commissioning in a single quarter, adding 601 MWp. This comprised 458 MWp of solar and 143 MW of wind capacity. As of June 30, 2026, operational capacity stood at 2,409 MWp, further increasing to 2,575 MWp with an additional 167 MW of wind capacity commissioned post-quarter end.

The company also made significant strides in battery energy storage systems (BESS), commissioning approximately 400 MWh in Q1 FY27. Looking ahead, an additional 4,000 MWh of BESS capacity has been ordered, with targets to install around 4,500 MWh by June 2027 and approximately 10,000 MWh by March 2028.

New Agreements and Future Outlook

Juniper Green Energy secured a 50 MW power purchase agreement (PPA) with SJVN under its firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) portfolio, priced at Rs 4.25 per kWh. Post-June 30, the company further solidified its project pipeline by winning two tenders: an SECI FDRE round-the-clock project encompassing 870 MWp and 2,200 MWh of BESS, and a 50 MW wind project from GUVNL at a tariff of Rs 3.51 per kWh.

Overall generation increased by 72% YoY to 944 million units in Q1 FY27, driven by these capacity additions. The capacity utilisation factor also improved to 30.2% from 28.2% a year ago. The company currently manages a total portfolio of 11 GWp and 9 GWh BESS, which includes operational, under-construction, contracted, and awarded projects, underscoring its significant presence in the renewable energy sector.
