JSW MG Motor India has teased its new 7-seater electric SUV, the Hector Tomahawk, ahead of its August 26 debut. Pre-reservations are now open for the EV, which is expected to launch on August 28, 2026, targeting the mainstream Indian market.

JSW MG Motor India has unveiled a teaser for its highly anticipated 7-seater electric SUV, the MG Hector Tomahawk. The automaker announced that pre-reservations for the vehicle are now open, requiring a payment of Rs 21,000 from interested buyers. The all-new electric SUV is slated for its India debut on August 26, 2026, with an official launch expected two days later, on August 28.

Introducing the MG Hector Tomahawk EV

The upcoming MG Hector Tomahawk EV draws inspiration from iconic World War II aircraft, promising a distinctive design. While the teaser revealed specific design elements, the overall form of the vehicle remains under wraps. This new electric SUV is projected to be priced between Rs 19 lakh and Rs 28 lakh (ex-showroom).

Built on MG’s ADAPT (Advanced Drive Architecture Platform Technology) platform, the Hector Tomahawk EV is designed to support various new energy vehicle (NEV) powertrains, including pure electric, hybrid, plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and range-extender electric vehicles. The company intends for the Hector Tomahawk to compete directly with other electric SUVs in the Indian market, such as the Kia Carens Clavis EV and the Mahindra XEV 9S.

Broader NEV Strategy and Investment

Following the launch of the Hector Tomahawk EV, JSW MG Motor India plans to introduce a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle based on the same ADAPT platform. This move will mark a significant milestone, bringing PHEV technology into India's mainstream mass-market passenger vehicle segment, a space currently dominated by luxury German manufacturers like BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

The automaker is committing substantial investment, approximately Rs 1,400 crore, during the current financial year. These funds will be allocated towards new product launches, expanding manufacturing capacity, and increasing the localization of its Windsor EV components from under 50% to 70% by next year. JSW MG Motor India's NEV portfolio has shown robust growth, achieving its highest-ever wholesale volumes in July 2026, contributing over 80% to the company's total sales. Additionally, a new vehicle under its premium channel, MG Select, is also expected to launch this year.
