Infosys Q2 FY27 Preview: Dividend, FY27 Guidance, AI Deflation Expected

· · 3 min read

Infosys is set to announce its Q2 FY27 results this Friday, with its board also considering an interim dividend. Investors will closely watch FY27 revenue guidance, deal wins, and the impact of AI-led deflation on margins amid a subdued IT demand environment.

Infosys Q2 FY27 Results and Dividend Announcement Expected

Bengaluru-based IT major Infosys is slated to report its second-quarter fiscal year 2027 (Q2 FY27) results this Friday. Alongside the financial performance, the company's board will deliberate on a proposal for an interim dividend for FY27, a key point of interest for shareholders.

As the second-largest Indian IT firm, Infosys's upcoming announcements are under intense scrutiny. Investors and analysts will keenly monitor the company's FY27 revenue guidance, updates on its order book, and the renewal status of significant mega-deals. Crucial insights are also expected regarding the potential impact of AI-led deflation on margins and the overall demand outlook, especially as the company prepares for a leadership transition.

Analyst Expectations for Profit and Sales

Q2 FY27 was widely anticipated to be a subdued period for the Indian IT sector, with demand recovery pushed further out, potentially marking a fourth consecutive year of weak growth. However, recent results from some major IT firms have slightly eased these concerns.

  • Jefferies projects Infosys to report a pre-tax profit of ₹7,919.70 crore, a 7.5% year-on-year (YoY) increase. Revenue is forecast to grow by 10.5% YoY to ₹49,144 crore, with EBITDA climbing 12.2% YoY to ₹11,820 crore.
  • Emkay Global, holding a 'Buy' rating, expects Q2 net profit to rise 9% YoY to ₹8,026.70 crore and sales to increase by 10.9% to ₹49,323 crore. They foresee a 1.5% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) dollar revenue growth, factoring in contributions from the Optimum acquisition and cross-currency headwinds.
  • Kotak Institutional Equities anticipates a 4.4% YoY rise in Q2 profit to ₹7,689 crore, with organic constant currency (CC) revenue growth of 1.1%. They note that the Optimum Healthcare acquisition will contribute 50 basis points (bps) through full-quarter consolidation.
  • HDFC Institutional Equities predicts a Q2 net profit of ₹8,038 crore and sales of ₹49,090 crore.

FY27 Revenue and Margin Guidance in Focus

The updated FY27 revenue guidance will be a critical indicator of Infosys's future performance. Emkay Global expects the company to slightly lower its constant currency (CC) revenue growth guidance to 1.5-2.5% YoY from the previous 1.5-3%, taking the midpoint down to 2%, excluding the Versent acquisition. The brokerage, however, anticipates Infosys to retain its EBIT margin guidance of 20-22%.

Analysts from Kotak highlight that underlying organic growth remains modest, attributed to AI-led deflation and a generally weak demand environment. Persistent macro uncertainty, elongated decision cycles, weak discretionary spending, and geopolitical disruptions are all believed to be constraining growth.

Deal Wins, Mega-Deal Renewals, and AI Deflation Impact

Investors will be keen to understand the pace of new deal wins and the successful renewal of mega-deals secured in previous years, as these are crucial for sustainable revenue growth. HDFC Institutional Equities expects deal wins to fall in the $2-3 billion range.

Management commentary on the demand outlook, furlough intensity, client budgets for 2027, and the deflationary impact of artificial intelligence will be key areas to watch. While margin guidance is expected to remain stable, supported by currency tailwinds, staggered wage hikes, and higher utilisation, clarity on how AI-led deflation could specifically affect revenue growth is highly sought after.

Post-Results Events

Infosys is scheduled to announce its Q2 results around 3:45 PM Indian Standard Time (IST) this Friday. Following the announcement, the leadership team will hold a press conference at 4:30 PM IST, succeeded by a 60-minute conference call at 6:00 PM IST to discuss the results and outlook in detail.
