IT giant Infosys Ltd. reported a significant 12.2 percent year-on-year increase in its consolidated net profit for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, reaching Rs 7,769 crore. This positive financial update, announced on Thursday, July 23, 2026, was accompanied by a major leadership transition: the appointment of Ashiss Kumar Dash as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Designate.
The company's consolidated net profit for the quarter ending June 30, 2026, stood at Rs 7,769 crore, up from Rs 6,921 crore in the corresponding period last year. Revenue from operations also saw a robust rise, climbing 14 percent year-on-year to Rs 48,211 crore from Rs 42,279 crore. Operating expenses for the quarter increased by 17.9 percent year-on-year, totaling Rs 5,015 crore.
Leadership Transition: Ashiss Kumar Dash to Succeed Salil Parekh
The Infosys board has approved Ashiss Kumar Dash's appointment as CEO Designate, effective immediately. Dash is slated to serve in this role until March 31, 2027, with the intention for him to assume the position of Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director from April 1, 2027, subject to all necessary statutory approvals. He will succeed Salil Parekh, who is scheduled to step down on April 1, 2027, after more than nine years as CEO and MD.
Currently, Dash serves as the global head of a diverse business portfolio within Infosys, encompassing multiple industry verticals.
AI Momentum and Business Outlook
Commenting on the company's performance, outgoing CEO and MD Salil Parekh highlighted the growing impact of artificial intelligence. "AI momentum is now rapidly converting into revenue, which demonstrates how Infosys' differentiated enterprise AI value proposition is translating into consistent market share gains," Parekh stated. He added that strong large deal wins, powered by Infosys Topaz, reinforce client confidence in the company's role as a strategic partner for AI transformation.
For the full fiscal year 2027, Infosys has maintained its revenue growth guidance at 1.5-3 percent in constant currency terms.
Workforce and Attrition
As of June 30, 2026, Infosys' total employee strength was 3,28,062. This marks a slight decrease from 3,28,594 in the preceding quarter (Q4 FY26) but an increase from 3,23,788 a year ago (Q1 FY26). Voluntary attrition (LTM – IT Services) stood at 13 percent, a marginal increase from 12.6 percent in the previous quarter, but lower than 14.4 percent reported a year earlier.
