· · 2 min read

Indian Railways has introduced the RailOne app, allowing passengers to book unreserved general tickets from home. This initiative aims to reduce station queues and offers a 3% discount for digital payments made through the app.

Indian Railways has unveiled a new digital solution for passengers seeking unreserved, or general, tickets: the RailOne app. This innovative platform enables commuters to purchase their tickets conveniently from home, effectively eliminating the need to stand in long queues at railway station counters.

Beyond the convenience, the RailOne app incentivizes digital transactions by offering a 3% discount on all unreserved ticket bookings made through its secure payment gateway. This dual approach aims to streamline the ticketing process and encourage wider adoption of digital payments across the railway network.

Seamless Booking Experience from Home

The introduction of the RailOne app marks a significant step towards modernizing the Indian Railways' ticketing system. Officials, including those from DRM Prayagraj, NCR, have actively promoted the facility, highlighting its benefits for passengers.

The primary goal is to alleviate congestion at physical booking counters, especially during peak travel times. By allowing passengers to secure their tickets remotely, the railway system anticipates a smoother and more efficient travel experience for millions.

How to Book Your Unreserved Ticket via RailOne

Booking an unreserved ticket through the RailOne app is designed to be straightforward. The platform supports various digital payment methods, including UPI, debit cards, credit cards, and net banking. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

  1. Download the App: Obtain the RailOne app from either the Google Play Store for Android devices or the Apple App Store for iOS.
  2. Permissions: Grant necessary location and notification permissions to the app.
  3. Log In or Sign Up: Existing IRCTC users can log in with their credentials. New users will need to sign up using their phone number and complete an OTP verification.
  4. Select Booking Option: On the home screen, tap on “Book Tickets” and then choose “Unreserved Ticket.”
  5. Enter Journey Details: Input your source station, destination station, and the desired travel date.
  6. Complete Payment: Proceed to the payment section and select your preferred digital payment method. The 3% discount will be applied automatically.
  7. Receive QR Ticket: Upon successful payment, a QR code-based ticket will be generated directly within the app, ready for your journey.

This initiative not only enhances passenger convenience but also aligns with broader efforts to promote digital literacy and cashless transactions across India.
