The Indian Army has announced a unique 75-day internship program for students pursuing a Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication (BJMC). Hosted by the Additional Directorate General of Strategic Communication (ADG Strategic Communications) and offered through the AICTE Internship Portal, this initiative provides a deep dive into defense-grade media strategy and digital narrative planning.
Program Structure and Academic Credits
Designed to award 15 academic credits, the internship follows a hybrid model. The first 15 working days will be conducted online, followed by 60 working days on-site in Delhi. Participants will gain practical experience across the full digital content lifecycle, including media analysis, behavioral research, creative content generation, and social media campaign planning.
Work assignments are centered on public affairs, audience engagement, digital storytelling, and data-driven decision-making within the modern information ecosystem. This offers a rare opportunity to understand strategic communication from a defense perspective.
Stipend and Professional Discipline
The program offers a monthly stipend of ₹30,000, culminating in a total of up to ₹75,000 upon successful completion of all requirements. However, compensation is strictly tied to professional discipline; the stipend is disbursed only at the end of the term, and candidates maintaining less than 75% attendance will forfeit all financial benefits.
Operational Guidelines and Security
In line with operational security requirements, strict rules apply to technology and attire. Laptops and smartphones are forbidden inside office premises and must be deposited at the security gate. Only basic, non-smartphones are permitted within the complex. The organization provides dedicated workstations with internet access for all assigned tasks.
Office hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. A strict formal dress code is mandated: formal shirts, trousers, and shoes for male candidates, and Indian suits or Western formal attire for female candidates.
Application Requirements and Important Dates
Candidates applying before the August 2, 2026 deadline must prepare comprehensive documentation. This includes a Current Degree Verification Certificate from their academic institution, a Police Verification Certificate from local authorities, a government-issued photo ID, and recent passport-size photographs. Interns are responsible for arranging their own accommodation in Delhi for the program duration.
