India Unveils Upgraded Shram Suvidha Portal 2.0 for Workers & Employers

· · 3 min read

India's Ministry of Labour & Employment has launched Shram Suvidha Portal (SSP) 2.0 and Samadhan Portal, alongside new mobile apps. These digital platforms aim to modernize labor administration and simplify services for workers and employers nationwide.

In a significant push towards digital governance and modernizing labor administration, the Indian Ministry of Labour & Employment has rolled out upgraded versions of its Shram Suvidha Portal (SSP) 2.0 and the Samadhan Portal. This initiative, supported by Corporate Infotech Private Limited, also includes new mobile applications for both Android and iOS users, signifying a major reform in how labor-related services are accessed across the country.

Enhanced Digital Infrastructure for Labor Services

The newly launched platforms are built on advanced cloud infrastructure hosted on NIC Cloud (NGC 2.0), designed to handle substantial user traffic, with an estimated capacity for 55 to 60 lakh concurrent users. This robust foundation underscores the government's commitment to improving transparency, accelerating service delivery, and fostering an environment of ease of doing business.

Officials have lauded this initiative as one of the largest technology-driven labor reform measures undertaken in India, aligning with the four Labour Codes introduced by the Modi government.

Shram Suvidha Portal 2.0: A Unified Platform

The upgraded Shram Suvidha Portal 2.0 integrates a multitude of labor-related services into a single, cohesive digital platform. This includes streamlined processes for registration, licensing, inspections, and the filing of returns. Designed to be compatible with the new Labour Codes, the system connects both central and state-level labor administration functions.

  • Common Compliance Identity: A key feature is an online registration mechanism for establishments, providing a common compliance identity under the new labor framework.
  • Simplified Licensing: The portal simplifies the licensing process under the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (OSH & WC) Code, 2020.
  • Single All India Licence: Contractors can now apply for project-specific licenses online, and businesses operating across multiple states can obtain a Single All India Licence, eliminating the need for separate approvals from different authorities.

Samadhan Portal: Expediting Grievance Redressal

The upgraded Samadhan Portal is specifically engineered to make grievance redressal faster and more transparent. Workers and other stakeholders can now file complaints, disputes, claims, and service-related grievances online at any time. Users gain the ability to track the real-time status of their cases through the portal and mobile apps, removing the need for physical visits to labor offices.

Vinod Kumar, CEO and Managing Director of Corporate Infotech Private Limited, highlighted that the portal's multilingual interface, centralized monitoring system, and automatic allocation of cases to Conciliation Officers are expected to significantly reduce delays in resolving labor disputes.

Focus on Security and Scalability

The Ministry emphasized that this new digital ecosystem prioritizes cybersecurity, scalability, and uninterrupted operations. Built using Kubernetes clusters on NIC Cloud, the system incorporates advanced monitoring and logging mechanisms to ensure smooth functioning even during periods of peak usage. This initiative reflects the government's broader vision to establish a transparent, worker-friendly, and business-friendly labor administration system through comprehensive technology-driven reforms.
