India is set to become the inaugural official partner country for the Russian Energy Week (REW) International Forum in 2026. This significant announcement underscores the growing energy cooperation between New Delhi and Moscow, with India's oil and gas sector poised to showcase its projects and investment potential at the three-day event.
Scheduled to take place in Moscow from October 14 to 16, 2026, the REW forum will see the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI) representing the Indian Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. An extensive Indian exhibition stand will be established at the Manege Central Exhibition Hall and Gostiny Dvor, featuring projects from eight major Indian oil companies.

The Russian Energy Week is an annual international forum organized by the Roscongress Foundation, with critical support from the Government of the Russian Federation, the Russian Ministry of Energy, and the Government of Moscow. The 2026 forum is anticipated to host approximately 7,000 delegates from 100 countries and territories, fostering global dialogue on energy issues.
Deepening Energy Partnership
Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the REW Organising Committee, Alexander Novak, emphasized India's importance as an energy partner. He expressed Russia's keen interest in attracting more Indian investment into its oil and gas sector and expanding the distribution network with Russian companies within India.
Novak highlighted ongoing cooperation in oil and gas projects between the two nations, noting that the REW 2026 exhibition would provide an excellent platform to present both existing and prospective joint ventures.
Strategic Cooperation in Energy
Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the Russian Energy Week Organising Committee, further reinforced the strategic nature of the India-Russia partnership, particularly within the energy domain. He observed that Indian companies continue to show significant interest in Russian energy technologies and resources, with joint projects demonstrating substantial potential for mutual benefit.
Kobyakov also pointed to the broader multilateral alignment between Moscow and New Delhi, noting their coordinated positions within BRICS and other international integration groupings, which further strengthens their energy collaboration.
This partnership comes at a time when Russia has emerged as a primary crude oil supplier to India, and Indian enterprises maintain considerable investments and interests in Russia's energy landscape, signifying a robust and expanding bilateral relationship.
